Hi,

If someone finishes rank first after the trial, that means that their HSC mark is not restricted by the cohort if they get the highest exam mark.

When BoS decides on state ranks do they look at how much you are first by (assuming you get the highest exam mark, say 100%), or if your first internally and you get 100% raw that's a state rank for sure?

Because wouldn't a lot of people top their school and get 100% raw, so wouldn't they look at how much you're first by and how well the cohort, that you beat, went in the externals? (hope that last part made sense)

Doesn't it seem a little easier for a state rank. I mean surely there are many people who top their school and get 100% raw?

No, you get the top mark externally. I'd say 95% of schools to not mark hard enough, even if they have HSC markers (esp. science).

Just because you get 100% raw internal, doesn't mean that's what you get externally.

Lol, there are not many people who get 100% raw in the HSC exams. I bet you think this because your assessments are easy, misleading you to believe 100% raw is something easy to achieve. And when you say "many", please consider this with respect to the 70,000 students. 50 out of 70,000 is not many. 50 out of 5000 students is not "many".

In fact, not even 50 people get full marks in the HSC. It's more around 1-5 in each subject and in some subjects including the Sciences, there is noone that gets full marks.

Yes, most likely. But there are subjects like English Extension 2 where some 50/50's are better than other 50/50's. So, if you're the 11th best 50/50, you won't get a recognised state rank.

Yes I can imagine that subjects like that are a little different.
