for part b is the expression inside the brackets supposed to be:

4x^4-4x^2+1?

because I cant get 4x^2-4x+1, and I enter cos(2pi/5) into both sides of calculator and I get different answers.

The Ext1 paper should be free of typos now...

Carrot, I think there is a mistake part b). If you solve the quadratic for x=cos(2pi/5) i.e. solve 8x^2-9x+1=0 the solutions are 1 and 1/8, neither of which is the value of cos(2pi/5).
for part b is the expression inside the brackets supposed to be:

4x^4-4x^2+1?

because I cant get 4x^2-4x+1, and I enter cos(2pi/5) into both sides of calculator and I get different answers.
Yep you two are correct. I think in the excitement of realising that it was actually a quadratic, I typed it as a quadratic, when it was in fact a quartic hidden as one. Kinda gave it away though, with that typo.

The Ext1 paper should be free of typos now...
Very much thanks to you. I can churn out the questions, but I am quite careless sometimes with details.

Without Trebla, the paper would not be how it currently stands. Note that the questions I'm throwing up here are just drafts. I think of the question, then quickly type it down without having it checked thoroughly.

The actual paper has been checked and re-drafted at least 10 times already.

Okay so the event begins tomorrow! I will stick signs leading to the Examination Room, where you will be completing it.

Printing will be tough, a LOT of pages.

Re: The p00n thread

Two quick questions:

1. Is there free internet at Parra library?
2. Are you guys planning on staying back for lunch and stuff after the test?

Re: The p00n thread

Of course brah. Are you sitting the paper or just coming anyway?

And there's only meant to be 4 of us (1 Greek=me and 3 Egyptians) but there's a 5th guy as well
I'm defs not doing the paper - I know like 35% of the content lol.

Probs just work on Eco and chill at Parra Library.

Really wish I could come to the meat and see Carrot's 'golden' paper (seems almost AMC like). @Carrot- Will you be able to post the exam papers when you're through with the marking? I'm just interested to see the sort of questions you're throwing.

Sure thing.

This! :D
You don't need to bring paper, because of this:

Ok cool.

How long do you reckon it'll take to get the results (not rushing you lol- take your time)
Around a week maybe. But then there's MX2 so maybe 2.
