Hi,

I'm having trouble with:
Find the equation of the locus of a point that moves so it's equidistant from the point (2,0) and the line x=6.
Not too sure when I use distance formula for this question, and what to do with the x=6.

hey i got y^2= x+32 and i used the distance formula to do it is it correct ??

i used the distance formula with the A(2,0) the B(6,y) and the veriable point P(x,y)
so PA^2=PB^2
(x-2)^2 + (y-0)^2=(x-6)^2 + (y-y)^2
x^2 -4x+4+Y^2=x^2-12x+36
y^2=8x+30

I think he just simplified wrong, but working out is correct
