I just move to Australia and very confused about how HSC works. My problem is : i'm doing Math Ext 1, Math Ext 2, Physics, English ESL, IT and Vietnamese continuers. When they rank on first 10 best units they only rank 4 subjects i do is : MAth Ext 2 ( 4 unit ) + English ESL ( 2 U ) + IT ( 2U) + Vietnam...(2U) == 10 Units ( i suppose these subjects are the best ) ----> is it right ?

OR they "must" rank it on " 5 " best subjects ????

When i enroll for the HSC they said i must do math ext 1 in case i want to study math ext 2 so math ext 1 don't have any meaning on my HSC ???

Sorry about my bad English !!! Please answer me !! I'm very confusing !!

4units = 2unit from ext1 + 2units from ext2

I means how they rank on my 10 best units ? Math Ext 2 is 4 unit means i just need only 3 subjects = 6 Units to be ranked ??? is it right ?

In your case, your best 10 would be...

- Mathematics Extension 1
- Mathematics Extension 2
- ESL
- IT
- Vietnamese

Each of the above counts as 'two units'.

So you're pretty much saying Physics won't really count since its your worst subject? Then, all of your subjects will will contribute to your ATAR as they comprise of 10 Units altogether
