Jealousy of what?

ATAR? I was very happy with the high school leaving marks I received.
dude, I have asked you to define what you said and you haven't. why even try and have an argument if you are just going to aviod people's questions?

Not every single one of them is, I'm not saying that at all. But there are those that DO do that, and there are MANY of them. If you want an example of that, I can only say that one of my good friends was like that; Incredibly smart, but during the HSC was almost non-existant in terms of social interaction.

Now she regrets it, and has learnt from that.
I call BS. That year of her life that she sacrificed probably opened a hell of a lot more doors for her.

Actually it matters very, very much. Not because of the actual ATAR- I don't care what others get as long as they do their best because everyone has different levels of natural ability etc. At the end of the day, if you reach your potential, that's all you can do and you should be proud. The reason why it matters is because he has lied about it multiple times which tells me he is either one of a few things:

1) He is insecure about himself and his ATAR -> would not want to hire
2) He just lies -> Would not want to higher

Basically, the crux is that yes, a person who is well rounded WILL get hired over a basement. My dad has interviewed hundreds of people and yes, they definitely won't hire those who can't connect with people etc. BUT, you can't just say that high ATAR=basement/no social life. I know people who are expecting 99.7+ ATAR's and have very well developed social lives, sporting commitments etc.

And Solo- I'm noticing a lot of jealousy in your posts...

I would definitely associate leaving an exam with 1.5 hours to go as "not trying your best". Firstly, you shouldn't even be able to finish a HSC bio exam in 1.5 hours but even assuming you did, I guarantee you in 1.5 hours you could have found things to improve -> check MC, draw diagrams, check expression, clarify stuff etc.
Not insecure at all. If I was I would have left this discussion a while ago haha. And I do agree with your comment about how not all people who have high ATAR's lack the social aspects of life, I said that myself. What I AM saying however is that in my experience more often than not this is the case. But yes, there are many people who are well balanced at both.

And you have to remember that the Biology exam I sat happened to be one of the easier HSC Biology exams there had been for a while I think, hence a number of people leaving early. In terms of checking over in that 1.5 hours...yes you could do all that during that time. But if you've already done that, whats the point of going over and over it? If you've already gone over it heaps of times to do that very thing, and have fixed up things, you'd be more susceptible to over thinking something in the heat of the moment and changing something for the worst.

Just because people focus in terms of their academic life, it doesn't mean that they have to disregard all other aspects of their lives.
Since this didn't really start a discussion, i'll respond to it myself aha

I know a tonne of people who play video games all day (and all night) and have consistently received poor academic results throughout their entire schooling life.
However, these people are not sociable either.

At the end of the day it is down to the individual to determine how much socialising they wish to do, irregardless of their academic goals.

hmm wow, you mean you finished the paper and checked your answers 'heaps of times' (i assume >4) in 1.5 hours?! must be a genius, at least I can never do this

You can call bullshit all you like. The fact is that I do know it for a fact as I've heard it from her herself. No there isnt a way for me to prove this, you'd just have to believe it which, based on your reaction, you most likely wont.

She in no way regrets how hard she worked to get where she is at, but she sure as hell regrets not realising that she didnt have to be holed up studying all that time to get there in the process.

And you've clearly got a higher level of student in your head than exists everywhere. In low ranked schools, I guarantee you there are students who leave with that time left because they've done all they can.

not sure why that counts as bs-ing
different people have different opinions, that's all
her opinion may be that she regrets it, but it could have been that in fact, that hard year of work (and no socialising) did indeed open many doors (who knows)
very difficult to argue with this kind of stuff where you cannot observe the counterfactual

Not a genius at all, I wish I was haha. But yeah I did finish and check over the exam a number of times in just over 1.5 hours (I did say "just over" earlier on...feel free to find it for those who wish to pick at small things). I certainly wasnt the only one either, and at the end of the exam, there werent many people left in the actual hall.

Havnt your teachers even mentioned to you that most people dont stay for the full 3 hours? Ours did heaps of times.

I have already answered it multiple times, in several different ways in this thread.
well quote me some quotes where you have answered it. Because I don't believe that you have defined how intelligent someone must be to be "exceptionally intelligent"

I suggest you take up debating as well as a hobby, you are very good at it.

I didnt say you were bullshitting...? o.0 You said that you called bullshit, I was simply saying that you can say that all you want because, yes, people have different opinions...

How low is a "low ranked school," in your opinion?

Ok now I'm definitely calling bullshit. You said a while ago you went to a selective school. I go to a selective school and NO ONE leaves early. There is no selective school in NSW where the majority of kids would leave a HSC biology exam before time is up

yep, I do know this (although not explicitly mentioned by teachers)
but the number of people who leave before the, say 2 hr mark, isn't that huge for subjects I did (MX1,2, phys, chem)

in my hsc, I had to focus for the full time in both phys and chem and I reckon if i had more time, I could have even further improved some of my responses, at least for chem

yeah I know it wasn't directed to me, but still wanted to say it because I actually agree in many parts with lifeboat (and I reckoned that he wasn't bsing)

Just because people at your school stayed, dosnt mean those at other schools did. Again, call bullshit all you like, as it dosnt bother me. I saw it with my own eyes so thats all I can say to that.

"There is no selective school in NSW where the majority of kids would leave a HSC biology exam before time is up" < That in particular is completely unfounded.
