Ranks:

Standard English- 2/68

PDHPE- 1/17
Industrial Technology Timber- 3/18

School Rank - 172

Is an ATAR of 89-93 expecting to high?

Thanks

Nope, i'd predict you will get high 80s and 93 is definitely possible if you went well in the external exams.

88-89. It depends on how well you do in the externals and also your cohort's performance. Although, I believe 93 is possible if both go well.

the subjects you did are not very high scaling subjects
anything under 85 in english standard, 85 in general maths, 90 in timber and 95 in PDHPE will scale you down.
expect an atar around 80.
it's better to face the facts than get false hope from a couple of people here for a few days.
you should have done higher scaling subjects.

I was informed scaling does not matter if you perform in a subject. A friend last year did the same subjects (except Advanced English) and pulled an ATAR of 95.
I feel I performed in all the subjects except Timber which may weigh me down a little. Other then that though, i think i performed quite well in the HSC.
I'm fairly certain it will be above 80.
You're stuck in the mind frame that doing only physics, chem and ext 2 mathematics will allow you to achieve a good ATAR :)

Anyone else?

Yes, but when they say that they are referring to the fact you can rank/perform better in subjects you enjoy. If you had done subjects you didn't like but "scaled well" you wouldnt have ranked as highly and have gotten a lower mark, hence why "scaling doesn't matter". In the end though, scaling still does exist. You do have a very good point though and i'm also fairly certain you'll get above 80 too (i.e. i stick to my previous estimate =P)

even if you preform, those subjects will scale you down, but only by a bit
timber weighs you down a LOT. that's why l dropped it
like, an 80 would scale you down to like 50
erm, not really, l do physics, chem, 3u maths and engineering and l'm hoping for 80.
l didn't perform well but the scaling process works to favour the hard subjects
btw, my ranks are similar to yours, but l did crap in the exams. so... l think we can't estimate on ranks alone :/

Okay thanks for your opinion.

Anyone else think 90+ is achievable if I performed in the hsc exam?
