That was really good, but it's not as easy to appreciate an innings when you are supporting the other team haha!

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

Question:

So I was playing a cricket game and I had dismissed the other team for 154.

So in my innings, I was 3/154. And then the bowler bowled a no-ball, but then I got stumped and was given out.

My question is - did I win the game the moment the bowler bowled the no-ball and thus the dismissal is incorrect, or not because something to do with completed deliveries?

You can't be stumped off a no-ball, only run out?

Fine "run-out" then.

Point was, I was out of the crease... (brb will read rules about the difference between stumped and run out)

That's sounding more like a stumping so the dismissal was probably incorrect. Anyway, to answer your initial question i actually have no idea but i'd say you would win. Doesn't matter with wickets in hand though.

But.. but... but... averages! Or, what if it was 9/154 - and then that happened.

In the case of 9/154 they would still win as it'd be all out for 155. The score keeps going if they hit a boundary with just a few runs to win. So i'm assuming it's not a dead ball after the match is won and you could technically be run out trying to get a further run on top of that. Just dont think a batsmen would bother running in a normal circumstance after winning the game. On the other hand they will often instantly meet in the middle afterwards and start celebrating, so maybe it does become dead ball? I have no understanding of the rules beyond what i have gathered from watching it lol, im sure it must explain this somewhere.

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

Its whatever happens first, so since the bowler bowled a no ball first the game is over as soon as the ball is released.

Is this a backyard game?

Who looks at a no-ball in a backyard game?
