Well it looks like we'll all be back to the daily grind soon, so what better than to open our Chatter Thread for the upcoming semester. Welcome back to our current students and those who will be commencing their studies at USYD for the first time.

Important Dates

March
4 - Lectures begin (Semester 1)
15 - Last day to add/enrol for a unit of study
29 - Good Friday
29-5 April - Mid Sem Break
31 - HECS census date

April
25 - ANZAC Day
26 - Last day to Discontinue Not Fail (Semester 1)

June
7 - Last day of lectures/Last day to Discontinue Fail
10-14 - Study vacation
17-29 - Examination period

This thread serves as a general discussion thread for USYD students. Please keep all the miscellaneous and off-topic conversation here as well as comments/queries/observations that don't warrant a new thread. While posts that would generally be considered spam elsewhere are tolerated in this thread, please note that this is not a substitute for Non-School.

I am too dreading uni. But perhaps at least I may enjoy some subjects so it'll be bearable.

Also second day of sem1 exams is my 18th. Yes. So stoked!

if you discontinue (not fail) a unit, will that show up in your degree information after it's completion?

Classes ick, but at least some of my tutorials and pracs don't start till Week 2. Can't I just change my degree BSwag/Drinking (Hons) and do it at Manning?

I have my first mid-semester exam this year The weighting of second year assessments isn't cool - I gotta put in an effort and a half now.

Well I have two solid proposals ready to go which I think would be quite applicable to the business environment so it should be quite a good thing to be doing while I'm applying for graduate jobs.

That being said, I'm meeting my supervisor on Monday to discuss them so we'll have to see what he thinks as well. Only issue I see is that it could be a bit broad but I already have a large set of data to work with already.

if it's in the science handbook then yes it is.

anyways, just looked at what days all my maths quizzes are on and when maths assignments are due and so far they all happen on Thursdays. Gonna have 8am quizzes twice for MATH2961 lectures D: and my MATH2962 and MATH2969 quizzes are on the same day both times. Also, I hope I don't die in STAT2911...

I've been looking at my timetable and I don't have to go to 8am maths in the first week because there are no tutes so I can get to the 11ams. Join me there instead?
