HEY GUYS,

AS THE HSC is getting closer and the workload becomes more and more; I was just wondering what raw marks would you need in each assessment task in each subject to get a HSC mark of above 95.

I do these subjects;

Maths Ext 1: Half yearly mark: 86%
Maths Ext 2: Half yearly mark: 76%
English Advanced: Half yearly mark 95%
Chemistry: 85%
Biology: half yearly mark: 89%

I really want to get atleast band 6 for all my subjects because I want to study medicine. If any knows or have done their HSC; could you please provide a possible approximation of what marks will I need to get in each assignment and in the HSC exam to achieve above 95.

Also do I still have a chance to achieve above HSC mark of 95, depending on my current Half-yearly marks.

Any help would be appreciated;

Thank you very much to those who contribute! good luck to everyone else in their HSC. :awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome:

Lol you said

'for biology, chemistry, physics I scored 98% for all three due to single mistake. still not happy. for maths ext 1 I got 95% and maths ext 2 I got 100%. so easy= Understand the concepts well before moving on to questions. English scored 93, 96, 100 for all three assignments.

You didnt say 'this is what im aiming for' These are the marks you posted on the other thread.

bro you don't even understand my situation and your don't even have manners here and how would you expect to pass your interview. I don't even think that your will even get a interview because at the end it is not just about marks... once you become a doctor you will need to show respect and be friendly to the peeople and what have I said wrong to you. I am just trying to pass on the right advice that what your talking about here is not funnay, if you fail your interview and not even get a place. So please I suggest don't even help because your not even willing too. you don't understand me lol.

good luck in your HSC and I hope that you get a place in medicine lol.

95 would be to low to get into medicine.

Possible, but unlikely.

Three Band 6's and Two Band 5's around the ~85 mark would get you there just about.

lol, do you mean 95 as an Atar or HSC mark, if you mean 95 as an Atar it is definetly too low but a 98+ can get you into medicine.

So what raw marks would you need in maths ext 1, 2u to get an overal HSC mark of 95 atleast. In terms of scaling would biology and chemistry scale higher if you get lets say like 97 HSC mark in both. lol

personally, when i sat for 2u and 3u last year, my raw marks did not reflect my overall. My final raw mark for 3u was 69 and maths was mid 80's...both ended up being 94 and 95 respectively. It really depends on your external mark and your rank. However, i was ranked 14/18 in 3u, which really pulled my mark down...could've got 96 :( so yeh just maintain a good rank if your cohort isn't strong and do as well as you can in hsc :)

did you apply for your papers + raw marks? or rough estimates. Thats some good scaling.

OP, troll or not, I got similar marks to you in half yearly (probably even worse - never got higher than 90% in english) so you can defs get 95+, even 99+. Just don't stuff up the actual HSC exams like I did for some

yasmine was saying she got mid 80's raw in 2U, but got 95 overall due to her classmates pulling her up.

Cos I got 96 overall with 94 raw, so ~85 definitely does not go to 95.

i'm coming 4/5 in MX2 so probably not the best person to ask advice from in that haha. Same class as Sy123 *yaaay* :L

of course you can still get above 90? i recall getting 73 in my MX1 hye...HYE for my maths subjects are such a blur - i hardly remember them. They had the slightest effect because of the weighting of trials and other assessments. HYE arent usually significantly higher in terms of weighting? they're usually weighted approx 20-25, where usual assessments are about 15-20.

also, honestly, i believe that if it wasnt for my external mark, i may have gotten a high band 5 or perhaps scrape off a band 6. Externally for MX1 was 48/50 , whereas my assessment mark was 45/50. It REALLY comes down to consistent effort and enough (but not too much) confidence for all your exams, and having a determination that your hard work will pay off eventually :) Getting well in externals is a must.
