sri lankans apparently have a "lower than average" IQ, however i'm pretty sure this average is not at a mentally retarded level or so low that it renders them incapable of contributing to society. So there are heaps of dumb cunts already in the country
so therefore we should bring more dumb cunts in
That would come under discrimination.Furthermore, if for some reason you are really concerned about IQ, make them do an IQ test before allowing them in instead of assuming that every Sri Lankan refugee has a lower than average IQ
exactly. You are either forcing people to take an IQ test to come into a country or you're assuming they are all of below average intelligence. Either way, it's stupidThat would come under discrimination.
If it less than average then they will not on net balance be beneficial to Australia.sri lankans apparently have a "lower than average" IQ, however i'm pretty sure this average is not at a mentally retarded level or so low that it renders them incapable of contributing to society.
Uh, no. Just because he has views you disagree with and is socially a bit retarded does not mean that he is unable to perform academically and by proxy have an above average productivity.people like hayabusaboston are indicative of how IQ is hardly a completely reliable measure of intelligence or a reliable way of predicting success.
No but we've already got more than enough people to do average jobs.I highly doubt the average job *needs* an IQ of 100 anyway so having a slightly below average IQ is a ridiculous reason to exclude a person from a country.
Oh yeah totally, that's really a viable option. Polticians would totally go for that, right?Furthermore, if for some reason you are really concerned about IQ, make them do an IQ test before allowing them in
I don't think you understand how averages and normal distributions workinstead of assuming that every Sri Lankan refugee has a lower than average IQ
You've haven't explained why. If you take 1,000 sri lankan refugees, most of them will almost certainly have a lower IQ than the Australian average.exactly. You are either forcing people to take an IQ test to come into a country or you're assuming they are all of below average intelligence. Either way, it's stupid
so you're saying that to be beneficial you need a higher than average IQ? That a lower than average IQ equates to people being less beneficial to society? If it less than average then they will not on net balance be beneficial to Australia.

cool and rote learning has literally nothing to do with a high IQAcademics is not the sole measure of intelligence or productivity. Rote-learning the shit out of something makes you succeed in academics but doesn't necessarily mean you are intelligent or that you will be productive in the workforce.
Are you saying that employers are struggling to find low-skilled workers?what do you mean "more than enough people to do average jobs"? Citation?
Statisticlaly more of them will be below rather than above, so its not worth bringing them all in just to get the high IQ ones, because the cost will exceed the benefit.but you can't exclude individuals from entering a country because you pool them in with the average of people from their nation,
Statistically most of them will have an IQ lower than the Australian average, therefore if it's not possible to screen them individually then its perfectly rational to exclude all of them.that's ridiculous because you're grouping individuals with a quite possibly high IQ with the rest because of their race
It's not because of their race, its because of their average IQ.
You missed the point entirely. I was saying academics is not the sole measure of intelligence or productivity.so you're saying that to be beneficial you need a higher than average IQ? That a lower than average IQ equates to people being less beneficial to society?

I dunno, citation?
"if its not possible to screen them individually then its perfectly rational to exclude all of them"
No it is not. People are individuals and you cannot judge anyone based on what the average person from their country is like. A person's ability to contribute to society is defined by who they are as a person not what the average person from their country is like.
Also please show me the source and precise statistical data on sri lankan IQ
Sri Lankans rank 111th in the world for PPP per capita GDP.You missed the point entirely. I was saying academics is not the sole measure of intelligence or productivity.
I think the burden of proof is on you to show that we need low-IQ migrants to fill jobs that Australians cant do.I dunno, citation?

http://www.rlynn.co.uk/pages/article_intelligence/t4.aspAlso please show me the source and precise statistical data on sri lankan IQ
and sri lankan refugees in Australia, which is what we are talking about? What's their productivity like? You're assuming that their productivity in a nation of political turmoil, lack of resources and recovering from what was pretty much a civil war will be the same here in a country with enormous access to resources and facilities.Sri Lankans rank 111th in the world for PPP per capita GDP.
I think the burden of proof is on you to show that we need low-IQ migrants to fill jobs that Australians cant do.
Yes but we literally can't judge them as individuals in terms of immigration policy, we have to judge them as a group. The average is bad, so exclude them all.
http://www.rlynn.co.uk/pages/article_intelligence/t4.asp
Impractical as fuck. Also, its highly unnecessary for sylvia to "show" you the amount of low IQ folk in australia, they are quite literally everywhere. Denying this would indicate one has a low IQ him/herself.and sri lankan refugees in Australia, which is what we are talking about? What's their productivity like? You're assuming that their productivity in a nation of political turmoil, lack of resources and recovering from what was pretty much a civil war will be the same here in a country with enormous access to resources and facilities.
spare me the burden of proof bullshit. You claimed that there are more than enough people here to occupy "average" jobs, so show me.
Why not? Why can't you judge a person's merit in entering a country on a person by person basis?
Lol the IQ for Sri Lanka was determined by the IQ of surrounding nations in that study since there was no actual data on Sri Lanka, that is grossly unreliable, particularly as statistically speaking Sri Lanka has an enormously higher literacy rate than India etc. so you would expect the average IQ to be higher as well. There are a tremendous number of factors that weigh into IQ and it's stupid to judge the average IQ of a nation based on that of surrounding nations
it's not really that impractical at all, and is well worth it when considering that an individual cannot be effectively judged based on some arbitrary "average" of his people, particularly when said average IQ is calculated with no data from the nation itself but rather extrapolated from neighbouring countries with populations that possess a different political climate, environment and genetics.Impractical as fuck. I didn't ask him to show me low IQ people, do you struggle to read? I asked him to show me data that there isn't room for sri lankan refugees to fill "average" jobs
This means showing you that there are enough average people already to occupy average jobs, and by implication low IQ people.and sri lankan refugees in Australia, which is what we are talking about? What's their productivity like? what do you define as an "average" job? How many are there then? How many "low IQ" people are there? Also, just because you have a slightly below average IQ it doesn't remove from the fact that you can get a "higher than average" job if you put in solid effort. This means showing you that there are enough average people already to occupy average jobs, and by implication low IQ people.
What?? and how do u know this??what do you define as an "average" job? How many are there then? How many "low IQ" people are there? Also, just because you have a slightly below average IQ it doesn't remove from the fact that you can get a "higher than average" job if you put in solid effort.
Also all this is irrelevant anyway considering that study Sylvia quoted is basing the IQ of the average Sri Lankan person on that of surrounding nations and not on any data from the country itself, which is pretty damn unreliable.
perhaps you should look at it thenWhat?? and how do u know this??
EDIT: I didnt look at link. Could be the case.
Bleh cbfperhaps you should look at it then
