• Resettle 3,800 people directly from Indonesia, in line with the recommendation of the Houston Panel
• End Labor’s shameful ban on family reunion visas and bring families together
• Commit $70 million a year to emergency funding for the UNHCR for faster processing and better welfare services
• Shut down Manus Island, Nauru and end offshore processing including the PNG solution, with Australia to assess claims of people who arrive by boat
Safer Pathways will remove the incentive for people to get on boats, because they will see another way out.

The panel never said to immediately resettle 3,800 people from Indonesia. Sometimes I wonder if the Greens actually read the report (or summary), but I think they just put 'as recommended by the Houston panel' to try to authenticate their policies.

Isn't it that a vast majority of illegal immigrants coming to Australia are through other ways such as overstaying visas as opposed to the actual boats?

Exactly. This has nothing to do with "omg were being flooded by dem illegals who steal our jerbs." 90% of asylum seekers were foudn to be genuine refugees. Which means out of the 12k that arrive by boat only 1200 are illegals vs the 60,000 illegal migrants we get per year from breaking visa conditions.

This asylum issue is just a side show compared to the REAL illegal immigration issue. I still lol @ durr lets keep aussie jobs for aussie when we hand out working holiday visas like candy. We fuck over so many people on migration. Russel Crowe can't even get citizenship because of gov backstabbing the kiwis on our migration agreement. Russel crowe is so australian we gave him a prize on how australian he is. but we won't give him citizenship despite both his kids are aussie and hes been living here for over 37 years.
