Location/cost primarily, took me about 50-90 minutes to get to Monash depending on traffic (sometimes longer to get home) as well as paying $15 in tolls and $15 in petrol to drive there ($90 a week) which had a pretty big drain on my time and money, Melbourne uni is much closer and I'll be catching public transport. The location is also pretty much in the city which will help me when I'm working/studying at the same time. Monash/Melbourne are perceived as pretty close in terms of prestige overall albeit Melbourne is considered slightly higher. In saying that I really like Monash and couldn't have asked for anymore from a uni, if only it was closer haha! What gave for the transfer? Better facility/prestige?
Yeh great. Just signed the contract with themHow did it go mate?
Congrats buddyYeh great. Just signed the contract with them
I was thinking the exact same thing, everyone just went quite! Back into the routine of uni/school I suppose, as well as assignmentsSo how's everybody been going?
It seemed we went through a frantic stage and now silence! (I take it your all studying then? )
I think "core assurance" is the overall group with divisions such as FS, resources, manufacturing etc within it. Apart from core assurance at EY I think there is also climate change and sustainability services, financial accounting advisory services, financial statement audit, fraud investigation & dispute services. But then again that's what I found online so I could be way off! What essentially is the difference between assurance-FS and core assurance? I tried to look it up however, I get no clear answer.
No I'm with another firm, one of my friends is doing an interview with them.I think I've said in the past Hall Chadwick was around September. Did you have an interview with them?
And I know everybody is studying, but don't forget to keep and eye out if you haven't got one yet!
Congratulations! Which firm if you don't mind me asking? You're best just waiting until they send the contract and finding out then.Just got offered a cadet ship! Sooo excited, have worked towards this for two years. Anyone know how much they get paid?
I would be inclined to say that 5 years experience is better than one years experience and a scholarship.Which is better? A cadetship with UBS or a Bachelor of Accounting scholarship with UTS?
UBS seems really prestigious - no.1 in financial services, but the cadetship means working full-time and doing uni at night for 2 years then full-time uni part-time work for 3 years- would take 5 years in total with the money at the end amounting to appx. $110,000
the bachelor of accounting still provides work experience but only a total of 1 years worth (2 6 month placements with pretty good firms e.g. NAB, PWC, telstra etc.) - could also finish the course in 3 years - money would amount to $46,000
Bacc at UTS seems like a way easier option but you get less experience and money. Is 5 years experience with UBS really that much better than 1 year with PWC or Deloitte etc.?
Would a future employer be more willing to hire someone with 5 years work experience or 1 years work experience and a scholarship!?
All answers welcome!
