It has downsides :p
Lack of sleep equals to a weak immune system, which also, if you're constantly all nightering means you lose appetite.
Inadequate sleep with a bad diet and an overload on caffeine results in colds and flu especially with the cold weather and also, nosebleeds :p

I got lucky, no flus or colds. Nearly got one about 2 weeks ago but I 'cured' it by drinking tons of water, gargling Listerine and taking a 30 minute walk outside.

One of my classmates left my Geog exam 90 mins in because he was so sick.
