Kevin Rudd has a simple message to the Australian people- we the Australian Labor Party can build long term prosperity for Australia without throwing the fair go out the back door. Mr Abbott says that you can only build prosperity if you throw the fair go out the back door. That has never been the belief of the Australian Labor party, will never be our belief and we intend to prove him wrong. For us and the Labor movement the fair go has been the core of what we have stood for decades past and is our galvanizing value. It is the value which we will take decades into the future. Prosperity and the fair go working hand in hand for families, for businesses, for communities, for our country and for a strong future. That's the Labor message. That the message that will prevail. Mr Abbott last Friday worked out that he had a problem. Mr Abbott last Friday worked out he had a very big problem. Mr Abbott admitted that the laws he has so passionately defended up and down in this country were in fact unfair. Mr Abbott perfectly for a year has told us that it was fair. Then he tries to turn turtle. He tells us for a year that his industrial relations laws are necessary to build jobs. Then he turns turtle. What has changed within the last 12 months? The fact that we have an election this Saturday.

The Liberals will destroy the trade union movement. It's no secret that Tony Abbott claims that the trade union movement in Australia are "militant." Tony Abbott will introduce elements of Work Choices and smash the living standards of ordinary workers. Tony Abbott will take a sledge hammer to the pay and conditions of low-middle class workers. Tony Abbott stands for tax cuts and pay rises for the "fat cats" i.e. corporate executives. Tony Abbott has utter contempt for the working class. Australia needs Kevin Rudd to win this election. Rudd is a strong leader and will create a strong future for all Australians not just a few at the top. We want Kevin. We want Kevin. We want Kevin.
Thats the whole point.... employers dont want fucking unions.....
He will NOT "Smash the living standards of ordinary workers", he willl ENHANCE THEM, by encouraging them to do their job and if they do it well then to get rewarded, and if they dont then they kicked out. If they kicked out, THEIR FUCKING PROBLEM, employers are not paying you to go crying to a union you're not getting paid enough... they're paying you to DO YOUR FUCKING JOB.
Any normal worker will be completely unaffected by work choices and destruction of unions. PROVIDED that they actually work. Its only the lazy and Ï AM ENTITLED TO XYZ AND THIS SHIT IS NOT IN MY JOB DESCRIPTION cunts that better watch their asses.

It's pretty naive to assume they're going to just 'get rewarded' for working well out of the generosity and genuine concern of the employer. If they're doing their job well for fear of being sacked and unable to protest it, all the better for the employer's financial gain, and if they aren't being mandated to pay their employees better, chances are they won't. Workers are the backbone of the economy and to allow employers to have them completely under their thumbs without the right to bargain collectively for better conditions or fairer pay is irresponsible.

M8, this is exactly the shit lazy people say, that ÖMG WE ARE UNDER THE CONTROL OF OUR EMPLOYER"

WELL FUCKING DUH
He IS your employer after all!!
And its not like you'll not get paid at all jesus christ, you get paid alright. EMployers have no reason NOT to pay you if you are a good worker. "Better conditions"is just bullshit statement, conditions are probably amongst the best in the world. Chinese have a right to say that, not frickin aussies. Fairer pay? What, even more than the ridiculous 22 dollars an hour or something that most people have to get already?

Obviously the standards in Australia are very high. I'm not saying they aren't. But in the situation you were describing the employees are totally under the control of the employer and that is not a good thing; I was talking more about the hypothetical situation you put forward. If their conditions are genuinely compromised, and if they get fired unfairly, they have a right to do something about it.

@Isildurrr1 if the wages are too high domestically, companies will supply less jobs and the demand for jobs will be too high. This may or may not cause companies to outsource jobs overseas .... and retrench people.

Wages should be kept at the optimum price to employers and employees .

Liberals to cut back research into arts, climate change and aid/development policy.

My sister works in developmental policy as a researcher :(

Good, foreign aid is an enormous farce. It rarely achieves anything and often goes to further support militaries and dictatorships that subjugate people to conditions that foreign aid is meant to alleviate. Paired with that, afaik, Australia gets more "foreign aid" than Sub-Saharan Africa (happy to be proved wrong on this) because the government spends it on domestic refugee policies.

Yup, and the corrupt PNG/SEA ministers just use it to buy up property in QLD while not a cent makes it to the people lol.
It should be spent on directly providing goods / services specifically because those who receive it cannot be trusted with it (if the govt feels compelled to provide it in the first place).

Also, 'research into arts'.

Yeah obvs it won't change the result, though with so many minors in the senate it's *possible* it could change the senate (fingers crossed)

i'm not really convinced it could change any outcome in the senate... shooters and fishers in nsw? family first in victoria? can't imagine it would effect the katter-palmer struggle for the 6th queensland senate spot.

Here is another link to our correction confirming we oppose a mandatory filter and oppose an opt out filter
http://t.co/1SVFNO0sgK

Position is Coalition will encourage carriers to make software available for parents to install on own devices to protect kids.
In other words - no mandatory filter, no opt out filter, but support parents taking resp'y for their own kids' activity online.
