So my initial plan was to do petroleum engineering at unsw but my atar turned out too low. So im planning on doing a different engineering (since only unsw offers petroleum engineering) course at a different university. So should I go to uws or macquarie university and do a mechanical degree? Which uni is better?

is your atar high enough to get into UNSW flexible first year engineering ? You could then look at the requirements needed to get into the petroleum engineering course

mq eng is fairly new and uws has a decent long term record. I would recommend uws and try a transfer?

I got around high 70s, one or two bonus marks. Its either uws or mq. Unless uts gives heaps of bonus points. Whats the maximum number of bonus points for uts?

Just put your preffs:
1 - UNSW Petrol Engg
2 - UTS Engg (do they have petrol??)
3 - USyd Chem Engg
4 - UWS/MQ
5 - UWS/MQ

and then see what you get ~~~

Nope, not even chem. Majors include civil (+ civil/environment), electrical, mechanical, mechatronics and ICT (submajor in Software, Telecom or Computer Systems), biomedical as of last year and I believe you can combine any of the above with "Innovation Engineering" which I think is just a fancy way of using up your electives.

Have you looked at UoW, maybe UTS (if you get enough bonus points) or UoN?

Those uni's are said to be better than mac or UWS in enginering.
