Hey, I'm going into my first year of electrical engineering and I am struggling organising my timetable. Does anyone have any advice about how to schedule courses, labs/tut/lectures etc. it would really be helpful!

For my first semester i have to take:
GENG1803, PHYS1210, ELEC1700 and MATH1002

Hi
While I cant give any electrical engineering specific advice I can give some general tips for organising a UoN timetable
To start with have a look for components that you aren't given a choice of time for eg lectures. Put these into a makeshift timetable eg excel spread sheet
Then try to have a look at the rooms set for the classes cause you certainly don't want to be rushing between Hunter and Shortland when you have two consecutive classes.
Then take a look and see what times you would prefer to be at uni eg if you live close and want days to work choose night classes or if you have to commute choose day classes cause public transport around the uni is pretty dodgy at night.

Finally using these tips put them all into a spread sheet with the classes you ideally want. Though make sure you have back up classes for everything cause popular sessions can fill up seconds after enrolment begins .

If you want any more tips let me know :)
I know these seem kind of generic but this is the best I can do without looking further into your timetable and the UoN forum tends to be pretty dead

For support on enrolling each Faculty holds a PIES day for first year students you can view the date and time here: http://www.newcastle.edu.au/current...enrolment-sessions-pies/newcastle-campus-pies

Also, you may want to check out orientation activities: http://www.newcastle.edu.au/current...ntation-schedule/newcastle-campus-orientation

If you are still struggling even after this you may want to get yourself a mentor: http://www.newcastle.edu.au/current...udents/find-a-student-mentor/request-a-mentor
