Hey guys,
I've generally figured out which direction I'm heading now in terms of Year 11 subjects as well as the course I want to shoot for in university- and now its all about the destination in order to get there! I know for sure that for the course I want to get into, it's no easy feat and it requires loads of sheer determination, effort and studying. This now brings me to the question; what exactly are good study habits or just general habits I could get into before the commencement of senior years? What methods have worked for you and did you end up having any time to spare to do the things you enjoy? I don't mind making sacrifices, and it is right now that I want to get into the habit and mindset of a senior in order to do good when I actually am one! How would I get myself adjusted?

Thanks a lot guys, any input is highly appreciated, as always!

All I can really say is maintain consistent throughout the year e.g. Do summaries weekly - they're a huge timesaver at exam time! It's good to work on little bits of a subject at a time, rather than prolonging it over a whole day. On the other hand, don't overwork yourself and ensure you find time to have a break and do things you enjoy too. Best of luck in year 11!

well, i'm actually not really sure how to answer this myself, but all i can say is that if you have a lot of extracurricular, you'll have a pretty damn hard time. i have an extracurricular that requires 6-8 hours a week and damn it was a challenge, but it'll be done by the end of this term. I don't think you should sacrifice things that you love, it really helps you to learn to manage your time better and make you overall less stressed if you love it. I think 6-8 hours is a little extreme though but below that is fine, after all, I managed and my time management skills are terrible! my grades only slipped a little and it was so rewarding, but i would never do anything that requires this much time again. if you dont already, make sure you do your maths homework regularly and accelerate if you want to. with english, read a lot of books. Work hard in any free periods that you get. and most importantly have mini goals for every day

I'd recommend gradually building up hours spent studying. For subjects, such as English/Mathematics I'd put a higher emphasis studying them during prelim as the skills/subject matter are an essential foundation or are part of the HSC exams. So you will be needed to get higher skills in those subjects.

Perhaps when you have time, having a read of my senior study guide would be helpful in guiding you to the kind of study techniques you may wish to develop to attain consistent academic performance in senior years:)http://community.boredofstudies.org...how-excel-senior-year-studies-yr-11-12-a.html

Hope this helps:)
Definitely a good read to give you a solid idea of the demands of senior school. In terms of what you can do now, form a study habit and start building good study methods - it is a huge advantage to have these well developed when heading into Year 11/12 and by extension uni.
