Personally, i believe people procrastinate because they don't have a specific goal to work towards, a vision to aspire to. But you just got to work harder man. Remind yourself that your HSC is only going to go for another few months and it'll be over in a couple of months. Remind yourself that while you're studying HARD. Working towards your goals. There's someone who is procrastinating, while you're chasing your dream they're doing nothing. But till then you just have to work your butt off and become the best you can be.

Procrastinating is normal but having a drive is far from easy. But what I've said above works for me because once I know I'm procrastinating like checking social networks, going out or what not I tell myself that its over since I've pretty much messed up my focus and it will only go down hill. Once I check my facebook its a clear sign that I've given up studying so I take 10 minutes to do something that doesn't lead to more procrastination e.g. setting myself up to do 100 pushups or go for a jog; since that gives me time to reflect on my goals and aspirations. After, I sit back into my study area and remind myself why I keep going and why I continue studying. Would you rather spend your life fulfilled or waste those hours on Facebook or gaming?

Its definitely not easy to study constantly and consistently but at the end of the day all you really want is to try your best and that's all you can really hope for; never EVER compare yourself to someone else. Work hard for you HSCs OP and never rely on luck.

There's a lot of different strategies to combat procrastination, so different methods work for different people. A lot of my friends go to libraries because they get distracted easily and procrastinate at home. Try removing distractions from your desk (i.e. laptop, phone) when you study. There's also apps called self-control that block certain websites so if you're on your laptop, you can stop yourself from getting on BoS or Facebook.

Also delete certain apps that are distracting off your phone. I did that for trials and it worked really well. The addiction was pretty bad at first, but you eventually get used to it.

Maybe look at how to manage your time better, so evaluate what was bad and good about the study habits and what steps you can take to fix it. Sorry for the vague advice, if you gave more detail I could try and offer some better advice ^_^

OP just realise that you have to do the work and then figure out your way to deal with it

Think long and hard about the consequences if you don't study or if you don't reach your goal (I'm assuming you have a goal)
If that doesn't work, then you need a new goal

I second lilcutetricker, rumbleroar and cub3root!

The most important thing is finding the place that gets you to do work - whether it be the library, a cafe, or your bedroom, but it can't be close to your bed
And exercise is so helpful for getting you to focus and to clear your mind

For me personally, when I don't want to do work, I like to take some time out and listen to some music or go for a run or go make some tea

What's wrong with arts?? (wait don't answer that)
Is there actually a really big gap between UNSW and Usyd engineering? I haven't done enough research yet

Try offering rewards/deleting/temporally deactivating accounts.

If your problem is internet browsing stuff like cold turkey or stay focused are available as apps to download.
