I usually just get creative out of the way as fast as I can. Usually this is done in 30-35 minutes.

Would it be more prudent to then do Short Answer or the Essay? I have a habit of doing SA after creative and rushing through, missing out on easy marks. In the trial I finished the paper with time to spare and I was just like 'why did i do that'.

How do y'all pace yourselves?

I do short answers and leave the 5 marker for later.
Then I do the essay.
Then I go back to the 5 marker coz I'm in an analytical state of mind.
Then finish off happily with my creative - this gets the most time coz the question may not suit my creative :. needa make up other random stuff

I just do it in order, spending minimal time on SA (~30 minutes) and then splitting the remaining 90 minutes between essay and creative. Works well for me

read the questions first if your confident in your creative leave it to last as youll just be copying your story. But section 1 seems to require the most thought [reading/analysis] so try and speed through thaat fist, then the essay, creative last

this is what I highly recommend:

as soon as reading time begins, look at the questions for the creative and essay for 2 mins max and do tiny bit of brainstorming. subconsciously ideas will start flowing in your brain, even as you do short answer.

then, read the questions for short answer. max 2 minutes

then read through all the texts for the remaining reading time, and start brainstorming techniques, quotes, points etc. etc.

do short answer first!!! it maximises the 10 minutes reading time, as you can largely read all the texts in a composed, non-panicky way during reading time. then do short answer straight away. and while you're doing it, subconsciously ideas for your creative and essay will start forming....

after reading task, I recommend doing essay first, as it is harder. and then creative

as for time allocation, I would say 40/35/45

Exactly what I do. Plus generally these papers tend to have a theme throughout, so read creative and essay questions first, and if it's about identity or whatever, you'll know to look for techniques and BLAH BLAH to do with that theme

What I did was the short answers first, just because I would have just read the texts/started reading them during reading time, so that way they're still fresh in your mind.

Then it's the essay, because that's probably the most difficult and you may spend more time on it accidentally.

Then I did my creative last just because it was the most adaptable, and if I happened to accidentally spend too much time on some of the other sections, then it would have been easy to cut some parts out compared to the other sections

Creative
Essay
Reading

Reasoning:
Creative first as its fresh in my memory so I can easily pump out the whole thing, a 15/15 creative, in 30 minutes. This leaves me a lot of time to do the other two sections.

Subsequently I move onto the essay as once again I can pump it out, but additionally during the time I was doing creative, subconsciously in the background my mind ticks over how I can approach the essay.

Lastly, I do the reading as I can simply grab my topic sentences and parts of my thesis to utilise within this section.

Previously in selecting to do reading first, I found my downfall, was that I spent too much time beating in the bush for the questions, ie writing too much, which left little time to the other sections. This had flow on effects leading to a rushed essay or creative.

I usually do it in order, but if i'm drawing a blank on any section, i'll skip it and do the others first.

Also might I mention getting 1 or 2 extra marks in either creative or the essay is considerably more difficult than it is in the reading paper. Therefore it is best to spend the most time on the reading, hence I leave it last, having full confidence in my creative and essay that can answer and mould to any question, which I can quickly pump out.
