I'm doing applied finance with commerce - professional accounting at MQ.

So basically I need a laptop which will enable me to view stock trading charts, financial reports, stream online videos and support heavy trading software with ease

So will I need 4g ram or 8g ram min?

4GB should do but get the 8GB if you can to be sure.

Also depends on the processor, i.e an atom aint gonna run it all for you but the i's will.

Lol you only need 4gb for that. 8gb is an overkill and a waste of money. You only need 8gb if you're doing computer science or something in the vein of that. Don't overlook the CPU as well, get i5 (haswell) if you can.

tbh nothing like that is necessary. I can go a whole day without using my computer but some days I do need it. Do what works best for you

I only take my iPad so I can go on BoS

lel pretty much this. You could literally just bring yourself to uni and get through the day. I don't even have a wallet I just have loose cards in my pocket :/

do you mean for taking to uni or just for having?

I never take my laptop to uni but i have my own laptop at home. Couldn't live without it and have no idea how I managed sharing a computer with other people in my family before I got a personal comp. Most of the stuff I do is research (so internet access) or word processing (ipad just isn't good enough at this).
