My teachers at school have all recommended we use different books to take notes in class. Some said we should be using loose leaf binders for all of our subjects, and one said that we'll be needing nine books for each subject JUST in prelim which sounds a bit off. I realise that it ultimately comes down to my personal preferences in organisation, but which methods did you find worked particularly well for you? Any suggestions?

The subjects I'm doing are 3U Maths, Ancient History, 3U English, Physics, and Studies of Religion II. I'll probably be using grid books for maths but I'm not sure about the other ones.

2x 300 page book should be alright for each subject. One for in class notes and the other one for hw related stuff.

Unless each book has ~64pgs and you have big writing, nine books for each subject is bs.

Just a heads up - you'll want to purchase a separate notebook for 3U English because you'll be working on a project later on in the year, and it's never too early to start jotting down ideas.

I feel as though I've underestimated the amount of work i'll be needing for year 11, I only got 96 page ones for each subject instead of 128 or whatever because the 96 looked a lot better.

Also to OP i found it really helpful to get 2 books for math, 1 for the class examples/what the teacher writes on the board and another for exercises as it helps to keep the books neat and easier to find things later on plus it takes a lot longer to run out of pages which is good so you don't run out of pages mid chapter.

> A< You guys have books for different things in one class?!

I just bought:
4x 128 pages A4 Binder Book [One for each topic in HSC Business]
3x 128 A4 Exercise Book [One each for Physics, Economics and English]
2x 200 page Composition Book [For Maths in-class work and homework exercises]
2x Small thin notebooks [One for writing down formulas and examples for Maths, one for Physics]

Is that okay?

Bit much for each topic, even for business studies - you can write maybe 30-50 pages of notes on each one? And that's pretty conservative (actual notes, not word to word). Of course you can always use those for other things, so no worries.

I filled one 128pg book for the first topic (Operations) - it had all my glued in loose papers from class, questions + answers and in-class notes.

So thats why I bought extra books, just in case! (I have a 20 pocket display for each topic, which have my typed out notes and case studies)
