Hey everyone, I was just doing a past paper, and I found this question. I feel like x should be equal to 12, but I don't know how to show it. If I could see working out for this, that would, be great.

The proof for bluegas's solution is that transverse lines cut parallel lines in equal proportions

I literally have never known this rule, that transversals cut parallel lines in the same ratio. I thought I'd have to prove that the two trapezoids were similar. The answer is 12 cm. Thanks guys.

This is a year 9 theorem that nearly everyone forgets it was even tested in 2013 hsc!!
Lol, I'm grateful then that my teacher reminded us of it again this year, I don't even remember doing anything about that in year 9.
