Yes, I'm pretty sure you can get into optom UNSW with 60 percentile. I know a few people with 98 atar with less than 60 percentile that got in
No way! Are you serious? Hahahaha, don't gimme false hope mate

I got scores of section 1: 62, section 2, 56 and section 3: 49 with a percentile of 75. I want to apply to UWS and I read that they are weighting section 3 even lower than half this year. Do I have any chance? I am from GWS.
Me gots S1 67 S2 56 S3 44 (76th Percentile)
So I am a more extreme case of you but heh lets hope we have a chance!

Your section 1 is very good, I am not sure if it is worth trying and paying the $64 fee. Good luck, at least if we don't make it there is a very good chance that we will improve next year (I hope).

164 overall, with 72nd percentile, which I think will be at bit short for UTAS - unless anyone has other advice.

S1 49 S2 65 S3 50
Bro if you are a Tasmanian student, 72nd percentile is more than enough to get an offer at UTAS. The cut-off for first round offers (unbonded) generally hovers around 73%+ but last year that went down to around 67% (two of my classmates received offers with exactly that) perhaps even lower. Bonded normally goes down to 60% or mid-high 50s and no, the 50-50-50 threshold does not apply, at least for Tassie students.

2014: 68% - 55|56|52
2015: 72% - 56|55|54

Hey guys, first time UMAT-taker here from WA.
I got 55-65-54, (84th percentile) with a ATAR of 99.95.
Any idea what my chances for an Adelaide interview are as an interstate applicant (non-rural)?
Thanks!

You should get a 2nd round but not a 1st round interview. Last year, cutoff for 1st round interviews for interstate applicants was 95 umat lol

In desperate need of some guidance!
Current uni student, non rural and 79%ile 5.75gpa should be 6 at the end of this year.
54 60 55 section scores (I II III respectively)

Is this good enough for anywhere?

I'd say UWS is your only chance.

Doubt it, her weighted is 141.5 and that's using S3 as half. From what i've heard they made S3 worth even less last year. She would need that to be 149+ atleast.

Thanks for the advice, makes me feel a little more positive.

I'm a non-school leaver entry so I'm not sure if that makes it harder, but let's see.

S1: 76
S2: 42
S3:80

basically s1 and 3 were 99-100 percentile and s2 was 20th percentile...

overall 98 percentile tho! LOL

Ok the comment above me is scaring me bcos of my s2 mark. Anyone have any insights? I'm looking at a 99.8+ atar.
Congratulations, those are some impressive scores.

It depends what Universities you've applied to. For example, the JMP asks for scores above 50 in all three sections, then applicants are ranked according to section 1 and the first 300 or so are offered an interview. So even though you did tremendously in S1, your S2 score means you aren't eligible for an interview for the JMP.

Read the requirements for the Universities you're hoping to interview for, and call the department if you're still unsure of the UMAT score requirements.

It's possible for the JMP, but I'd say unlikely.

Do any current med students have any anecdotes for how long we have to wait for interview offers to come out? For the JMP, for example, the website says if you haven't been offered an interview by the end of October, you can assume you aren't getting one. But did the interview offers for JMP come out significantly before the end of October in the past?

EDIT: Answered my own question by looking through old threads. Looks like they don't get sent (by POST!) until the very end of October.

I have a friend who scored 72%ile in the UMAT, expecting to get an ATAR of over 99. What can he do to get into med?

Hello all, I'm a first year engineering student in UNSW.

Last year i received a umat percentile ranking of 50%. Devastated, I accepted my result and considered the UMAT exam as a test I wouldn't do every again. At the time, I was going through the 2014 umat results discussion thread and came across a post from cobalt blue or blue something (I can't remember) who posted that after re-sitting the umat exam, went from 39 to 95 in percentile rankings. Motivated by this post, I decided to resit the exam and really focus on studying for the UMAT this year. I found out yesterday i got a 100% percentile ranking with scores of 72,75,73.

So I guess, i'm writing this post to motivate anyone who was in a similar situation as I was last year, to redo the favour that the person in the 2014 thread did for me. Thanks, and good luck to anyone reading this

Hi, I hope the veterans here can help me with these questions.

Several unis indicate selection is based on 40% ATAR + 20% UMAT + 40% Interview.
Noting that with UMAT, score of 230 gives 100%tile whereas 200 gives 99%tile.

Q1: Does a person with 230 have a (30/200) = 15% point advantage (ie. to compensate the other two components),
or only 1% advantage based on the percentiles?

Q2: Regardless whether a uni uses the 40+20+40 formula above, what is my real prospect with 230 and 99.5% ATAR?
I'm in WA, not confident of a place with UWA due to limited number of Assured places.
Not confident either with UTAS due to S2=56 and being interstate.
I'm terrified of flunking interviews at the other unis.

Thanks for your help.
