Macquarie’s University Food and Stuff to do
(NORTH RYDE CAMPUS/MAIN CAMPUS)

Please post below, and I’ll update the guide with people’s feedback. On prices/taste etc.

On Campus:

Stuff to do

Study?
Free notes etc available at http://www.studocu.com/en/instituti...st+au&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=fb+post+au

Trek to Y3A
Longer then the walk that Frodo undertook to get to Mordor with even fewer survivors this journey is not for the faint hearted. It is recommended you take rations for the journey, and try to find an art student to eat bear grills style if you are the type to take extra safety precautions.

Finished a unit for the semester? Why not write a review

http://community.boredofstudies.org...rts-human-sciences-subject-review-thread.html
http://community.boredofstudies.org...business-economics-subject-review-thread.html
http://community.boredofstudies.org...ity/275826/science-subject-review-thread.html
The more detailed the better. The more people who end up writing reviews, the more likely others will follow!

Go and join Gym
http://www.mq.edu.au/about/campus-s...sport-and-recreation/sport-and-aquatic-centre
Get those HSC kilos off!
Also a Pokemon gym so get battling trainers!

Find the Wizard on Campus

Wanna make some cash? Sign up for research experiments!
https://mq-cogsci.sona-systems.com/Default.aspx?ReturnUrl=/
Roughly ~$15 per hour

NAB bank on campus
Also most of the shops are "NAB" machines for payment

Commonwealth Bank ATM location

NAB Bank location

Geocaching
Macquarie University is home to several geocaches and in your spare time between classes it is well worth trying geocaching. Macquarie Library Geocache has won “Geocache of the Month” and is well worth checking out.

Check out these university links

Where to eat:
In the central court yard, they are often giving away free food so keep an eye out!

Cult Eatery (Best cafe on campus)
https://www.instagram.com/culteatery/
10 Hadenfeld Ave, North Ryde NSW 2113 AKA Y3A
Cafe style dining! Y3A is a family-run café offering coffee and sweets+lunch etc Mon-Fri, 7am-4pm.

Globe Café (In the international student building AKA E3A)
Only place on campus to sell bubble tea!

MacShop Now been demolished
Sells icecream (Only place on campus I've found selling icecream)
Packet sandwiches, snacks like Timtams(alot more expensive though so just walk to Macquarie Centre supermarkets and buy snacks there)
Stationary and a whole lot of random stuff like University themed merchandise.

Crunch Café (Sport and Aquatic)
Focused on health, this is the perfect place if you like to drink green shaded juices.

Library Café
The 1 of the 2 places that sell Pizza on campus.

Piccolo Lane (building E4A) -> Wally’s Walk
The coffee is fair-trade and organic!
Similar price to the rest of campus coffee, and conveniently located close to the train station from students coming in that direction.Alright taste too.

Wally's Coffee Cart (Outside Muse)
Often a queue during the day, not sure if its for good coffee or it is just a convenient location ;)

Staff Café (Building W5A)
Kitchen will be closed for renovation from 15 to 16 Feb 2016, but apparently coffee and a selection of sweet stuff will be available to purchase.

Campus Hub Food Court Level 1

Maxine’s Cafe (Information needs to be updated)
Previously when it was located in the food court it apparently is the “best” coffee on campus. I’ve found it had the best looking selection of pastries of the food outlets on campus. Also does sandwiches and breakfast options too!

Pie Face

Boost Juice

Crispee Greens

Doner Wrap Disappered?
Although fairly expensive, I am constantly drawn back for spinach and ricotta pide (7.50) when I’m hungry.Tends to be lukewarm though :(

Reuben and Earl Sandwiches

Sushi World
At the end of the day(around 5pmish) you can occasionally pick up some really good bargains and quantity of sushi for decent prices!

Thai Kiosk

Wicked Mexican

Taste Baguette Based on old location
I’ve eaten a sandwich plus coffee there and quite liked it.
Also I'm the egg and bacon roll is apparently the best breakfast ever and will set you back $8?

Little Asia

Iku

The Grill Based on old location
Satisfy your burger, hot chips and waffle needs or even get some chicken nuggets! My friend likes to buy hot chips there or siphon it of other people ;)

Campus Hub Food Court Level 2

Ubar Relocated to lawn.
Exhausted after going to your 9am lecture? Stop of afterwards and grab a beer and relax.
A beautiful place to chill plus eat between classes, it is also one of only two places that I have found on campus that offers pizza for sale. They also do parties every second Thursday night which go until 2am.

Lee’s Asian Food Court Has since moved.
Smells delicious, and often has a lot of people in their eating the food. Have yet to eat there but planning to this semester.

Presse Café
Disappered now called something else.
Has milkshakes!

Off Campus:

Macquarie Centre
Battle and take over the gym!
https://www.macquariecentre.com.au/search-results?c=stores&s=Cafes+/+Restaurants

Has Woolworth, Aldi and even Coles!
Yay for choice!

Vogue Café
https://www.zomato.com/sydney/the-vogue-cafe-macquarie-park
Very trendy instagram post worthy café for all your hipster requirements.

Snag Stand
Apparently the hot dogs are good and better deal then much of the food available on campus at Macquarie.

Max Brenner
Skip the coffee here, there are better and cheaper options within the centre.
Share a tutti waffle or another dish with a friend between or after class sometime.

The Great Bagel and Coffee Co
Had a pretty decent coffee here ( $3.30 for a small) it is also located on the same level as Max Brenner so don’t need to have to bother going down an escalator ;)

Café Macquarie
Nice food for decent/okay prices, I attended with friends for an end of semester lunch. Didn’t have to wait too long for food and could choose where to sit. Definitely worth going back too ☺
Doesn’t get busy (It is in Myer)

Bondi Pizza
Finally Macquarie Centre has a place to buy pizza!

Stuff to Do

Strike Bowling
Every Monday unlimited bowling/laser tagging after 5pm for $25
Every Wednesday if you spend $6 at the bar they will throw in a free game of laser tag or bowling!
Every Friday, unlimited laser tag for $15!

Macquarie Icerink
Perfect opportunity to learn to ice-skate!

Regarding the Ubar, is entry age restricted for the whole day? Like, if I (still 17 when uni starts) wanted to do ping pong midday tuesday or felt like some pizza, would I be allowed to? Or is it quite strict?
I see the list of some cool activities and events coming up at ubar and just feel down about not being 18 and missing out on friend-making opportunities and such....

Nah you'll be able to get in easily during the day/evening except for every second Thursday night(party night) around 6-7pmish they go round checking people's ids.

Just don't buy alcohol and you should be fine. However it is a bar so they may not be able to sell you pizza, so you'll need someone else to buy it for you.
