$\noindent Of course, for part (ii), we are having $x > \frac{n}{n-1}$ (which is greater than $1$), and we are going to use part (i) by saying $\left(1 + (x-1)\right)^n \geq 1 + n\left(x-1\right)$. So it suffices to just prove Bernoulli's inequality for $x > 0$ say for part (i) in order to use it for part (ii), since we are using it in (ii) with $x-1$ playing the role of part (i)'s $x$, and $x-1 > 0$, so we just need Bernoulli's inequality for positive numbers.$

(Of course, proving it for positive numbers is easy without induction – follows straight from the binomial theorem.)
