reeealllyyy hope its either law reform or young offenders
SAME I am really hoping for young offenders or law reform!! my trial question was on young offenders. If it's international crime or sentencing I'm screwed...criminal trial or investigation process would also be good, but no specific dot point like last year I hope cause I always rely on memorised essays loll
fingers crossed they wont be super specific cause COVID so maybe they'll be nice?? idk I feel like they don't care

Agreed! I'm hoping it's a general question because there's more to write rather than a specific dot point.
Oh haha unfortunately, I don't think they care

Just thinking about it I believe it may be criminal trial process

2012 - Sentencing and punishment
2013 - Criminal trial process
2014 - Young offenders
2015 - International crime
2016 - Criminal investigation process
2017 - Criminal investigation process
2018 - Young offenders
2019 Sentencing and punishment

Only Criminal trial process and International crime have not been done twice

Potentially:
  1. Something narrow about the criminal trial process which isn't the worst:
    1. Defences, Juries or something about balancing the rights of offenders, victims and the needs of society with reference to charge negotiation/defence/jury.
  2. Something more difficult:
    1. How effective penalties are in achieving justice.
Whether we should adopt a tough stance on punishments.
Sentencing and trial process haven't come up yet/much in past HSCs so might be something to consider.

I was thinking more punishments, but fair enough. But given their track record of just randomly repeating the same dot point (2016 and 2017) everything's possible.

Is anyone going to prepare an essay for Sentencing and Punishment since they did that last year

I'm basically preparing for everything, except for post-sentencing. If we get that, time to write a purely theoretical essay.

I have already prepared an essay. One that adapts to both young offender and sentencing just in case. This is why I hope it's either young or sentencing.

the timeline someone posted above is wrong... It should be:

2019 - Sentencing & Punishment
2018 - Trial Process / Investigation Process (Theme & Challenge)
2017 - Investigation Process
2016 - Young Offenders
2015 - International Crime
2014 - Investigation Process
2013 - Sentencing and Punishment
2012 - Trial Process

I think there is a high chance theyll give us young offenders :)

Edit: my bet is either that or international crime which i personally love lol
