Put it this way...how good do u need to be to state rank a subject like bio?
I got a state rank and it’s kinda random. Sometimes I think they just compared handwriting or something.Put it this way...
A state ranking requires 3 things:
1. Hard work
2. A degree of natural brilliance
3. Luck
You have to understand you are competing against people who are hyper-intelligent, or people who don't care about any subject but (for example) Biology and pour their everything into it.
It's bloody hard.
No one knows. NESA isn't exactly the most transparentso ur saying theres no real process of selection...?
Luck and handwritingfor the 10 4u state ranks that exist, there probably is 30+ people with the ability to get one on any given year. the rest is luck tbh.
Sometimes you just get lucky - honestly state ranking is useless (would rather those extra marks distributed to other subjects)oops. never had the ability to state rank to begin with.
Only just realised that not going to dr du means you have basically no chance of state ranking maths unless you put in unreal effort.
I. Want. Those. Essays.imagine state ranking english. pog.
Part of it is that HSC marks are shown as rounded but ranks are based on unrounded marks. For example, you could’ve gotten 100 external mark but 99 internal mark (or vice versa). Even though that shows up as 100 as the total, it is actually 99.5 and would rank lower than someone who gets say 100 in both external and internal marks.how does it work tho cause sometimes ppl get full marks in their hsc but then come like 9th in state. how does that work?

For extension courses, ties are typically broken by the relative performance in the lower level course. For example, if two students tie in Maths Ext2 then the student with the higher Maths Ext1 mark gets the higher state rank.
