i read through the 2020,2021,2022 hsc mx2 reactions thread where everyone was crying each year complaining about the exam adn this was the general consensus (minue the 61 that was from carrots calculator)

75->95 means the band E4 cutoff would be 50 lol, no

the friend might’ve had a mark increase due to special considerations or smth bc that’s actually not possible
75. --> 95 sounds sketchy
maybe 75 is what I remember them telling me but I remember the wrong mark. Anyways they were 1st so that might've played a part

theyre not, based on the raw marks database data they cant be any higher than 61 and 78 respectively
Can you explain this pls
I would expect 2020 to be around 80 and 2022 to be around 63

A 63 did translate to a 90 last year, but the actual cutoff was 60 or 61. The reason we can know this is that NESA uses linear interpolation between band cutoffs, so for example in 2022 given we know that 100->100 and 65->91, the approximate gradient of the band 6 interpolation is 1/4 (from my testing might be 1/3.9 but that doesn’t matter because the aligned mark with 3 raw marks must always be 95 because it’s a straight line from the cutoff) and hence there are four raw mark values which correspond to each aligned mark. Given that 65, 66 and 67 all are known to translate to a 91 from the rawmarks data, to have four raw marks the 91 cutoff must be either 64 or 65 (given that 64,65,66,67 or 65,66,67,68 are the sets which translate to 91), and hence there must be 4 raw marks for 90 below this 91 cutoff so the raw mark sets must be 60,61,62,63 or 61,62,63,64, and hence the cutoff is 60 or 61.
