yes 😭 I was conflicted on how i should write it
yeh its a bit complicated cause english ext 1 and 2 are both out of 50
and then the actual math ext 1 exam is 70 marks. but for ext 1 students, the mark is given out of 50, and for ext 2 students, the mark is given out of 100.

Didn't write a pre-exam prediction but whatever:
Standard English:
Paper 1:
- Unseen Texts: 17/20
- Common Module: 15/20
Paper 2:
- Mod A: 17/20
- Mod B: 16/20
- Mod C: 15/20
Total: 80/100 would be happy with that
Music 1: 24-25/30
Advanced Math: 89/100
Extension 1 Math: like a 43/70 💀

Before Bio: 85/100
Before Chem: 83/100
After Chem: like an 80 raw but I'm still happy with that :)
Glad its all over now 🎉🎉

section 2: 35/40
section 3: 40/40
total: 92/100

guys im shitting my pants for this one, its my ipt teachers first time teaching a year 12 class so i think if i got a band 6 my success would give him something cool to brag about when he goes to teacher congregations but i did the the james ruse 2011 multiple choice and got 12/20 wtf??? i've found past hsc papers kinda easy but damn theres a lot of study ahead of me

Anyone else think 480 scaled needed for 99.95 given easier exams in 2023 (MX1 excluded) ?
Easier exams don’t really make a difference for the aggregate needed for ATARs since then they just make raw->scaled scaling worse

I think Eng Adv will align and scale like Physics LY. Need a v high mark or get smashed by scaling. Most found it easy - pre-prepared essay friendly.
I sorta doubt it, English alignment has varied an extremely small amount since the new syllabus that would be a pretty extreme outlier

Apart from mx1, the most popular 99.95 subject combos have had easyish exams. Physics to come ofc but there are going to be some sitting by on 199/200 maths, 99/100 chem (hopefully you carrots). English will have even more importance this year - most teachers say it was easy. No. 99:95 with 88 Eng, will need 94 min I think Ty.
english is important every year u dumb baby; english wont be more important for one year u chuca

I wouldn’t at all call the mx2 an “easier exam” especially compared to 2020/2021 (if you want to see real easy, check out the 2020 exam), chemistry was on the easier side but far from the easiest ever, and English was slightly easier but realistically it only makes a marginal difference to the whole cohort’s performance and so alignment/scaling remain relatively constant. The difficulty of subjects doesn’t make a difference to the overall aggregate requirements anyway since scaling accounts for those difficulty differences. I wouldn’t be surprised if the minimum raw mark in English raises by 1 or 2 (currently, it’s around 80 raw, which is 88 aligned) but I think the aligned mark should remain approximately the same, and slightly easier essay questions don’t nearly account for a mark difference of 6 lmao
