i have a multimodal not an essay, so i'm only using around 3. but if it's an essay, i'd say 2-3 quotes per paragraph, and have three body paragraphs

3 per para is fine, about 10 per essay is fine … that’s what I did and I did good in english

the focus of english is not the quotes but rather how u integrate them to support your argument and thus communicate your idea. you'd rather have 3 quotes with well-written analysis than 5 quotes with a quick sentence about the technique and what it does.

also don't do 2 quotes unless you're really struggling with finishing within the time limit - 3 quotes per para, for 3 body paras. this also applies for module b essays - for module a the structure is a bit different.
