I don't get what your struggling with? is it identifying how u can relate it to the question with the scenario???? these questions are pretty straight forward. How would you guys approach c of this coz the sample answer is so ???View attachment 45084
This is sound advice but don't break it up into two explicit processes, you want to demonstrate your understanding by interlinking them. Otherwise you will lose marks.I don't get what your struggling with? is it identifying how u can relate it to the question with the scenario???? these questions are pretty straight forward.
for c. i always break them up into two paragraphs or whatever then consider the software and hardware for both processes. chuck in some key terms from the syllabus then link to the question.
For this example:
Processing - Once the parent purchases an item through a real-time transaction online through their phone or computer, their information is checked and the items are able to be purchased, it updates the database and then messages the parents and creates a message to send to the parents through SMS. This message is created after the parent enters relevant data. This system then processes the transaction sends it to the school and the office is alerted.
Storing/retrieving - after parents input data it updates the system's database, most likely on cloud storage as the system is online. This storage links the parents to other students along with personal information like phone, email, address etc and is stored securely and is encrypted with access keys to ensure the security and safety of the user's data. When an SMS message is being made the system retrieves the data from the user's record the uses that information to create the message. Also, now that their data is stored in a record you can link their record to a key so that they don't have to keep inputting data to store every time they make a transaction which reduces data redundancy.
something like this, probably add more and relate to the q more idk but hope this gives u a rough understanding on what to write. This is how I format it in the actual exam.
ok it was just an example. I wasn't aiming for band 6 response just giving him an ideaThis is sound advice but don't break it up into two explicit processes, you want to demonstrate your understanding by interlinking them. Otherwise you will lose marks.
Some of your processing aspects you mentioned doesn't align with what processing is, information being checked doesn't involve the processing of data, that's retrieval and then analysis, and updating the database isn't processing either, you're effectively storing more information, and deleting old records. Sending messages to parents doesn't involve processing either, and message creation is in a gray area. The only real point is probably the transaction processing, but this is a CORE question and you want to demonstrate your understanding of the core section, not TPS, though, it doesn't hurt to mention it.
And for storing and retrieving, seeing as the question asks you to analyse the existing system, not provide a suggestion, stating that the system uses encryption and access keys wouldn't be correct. Assuming the system uses cloud storage, also a risky assumption as it doesn't say that anywhere in the scenario, you're making up aspects of the IS and deviating from analysis of the provided info.
I feel like IPT has changed alot since it first was introduced the criteria and what they are looking for and question mark distribution is very different from like 5-10 years ago. This question isn't meant to be easy and it's hard to analyse it comprehensively.
