as someone who went to one of the lowest ranked schools in another state people just straight up don't care lol, they just prioritise stuff other than academics and generally show up to school because they have to (and then basically do nothing in class and just annoy the teachers lmao). its way different than even like a top 300 ranked school, in those schools there's usually at least a few people that do decently well. at the school i went to you'd be lucky to know a single person who has the equivalent of a band 5, for reference the median score was like 26/50 which is basically equivalent to a 50-60 atar. the issue is moreso the environment than anything else, if you're the only person trying in every one of your classes, you're gonna get demotivated so easily and usually the teachers dgaf either because the rest of the class is pestering them or they're underqualified beyond belief/gave up a while ago. so basically in those schools, for someone to be successful, they need to be able to study everything by themselves (which they'd probably be more successful at if they ditched school), as a result sink a whole lot of money into tutoring which they don't have, somehow stay motivated to do this when no one else is telling them to do so, and on top of that be the odd one out of the 300+ people in their grade and prob get bullied as a result. it's quite hard
100% agree agree agree. i also went to a semi-regional and low ranked school were teachers started shaming me for using resources from my friends at baulkham and nsg but they refused to take a good look at themselves and ask WHY this is the case. and they wonder why we get so many dropouts every year...

maybe cuz only children from rich families can go there idk
I’ve heard that they use the dumb kids parents money to fund their James ruse level scholarship kids. And plus why do retards and their retarded parents pay 40k/year for their drop kick ass kids? Why they wasting money on 60 max atar kids?

I know kids at my school who without the support from school at most would be getting 60 ATARs but with the support and resources of the school they are all getting 80-90s, so it is not really a waste. also, most elite schools don't really offer academic scholarships that often because they can get those same james ruse level kids paying full price.

on the thread ive hated on the obnoxious private school kids in my area, but not everyone who attends private is automatically obnoxious and rich, its just the loudest. 35% of students are in private schools, and i really doubt that all those kids parents are making 200k a year. fees range from 5k- 40k a year, the average is 10k which is quite a lot, but a lot of parents will try to budget for it bcuz they want their kids to do well

if it is under 40k its not really a real private school is it, just a catholic school or sum else
