Im 90% sure we dont need to know it. The ones on the syllabus are important. If they ask about a water feedback loop, itll be through a stimulus which will tell us everything neccessary

ya you need to know water but its super easy
1. water levels incr past 45%-70%
2. osmoreceptors detect change
3. hypothalamus signals pituitary to release less ADH (anti-diuretic hormone, adh increases permeability of nephrons)
4. water levels decrease

if water levels decrease as the stimulus, more adh will be released.

i thought we didn't need to know feedback loops for kidney hormones?? my teacher said it was part of the old syllabus and since there hasnt been any qs we dont need to know it

err I don't believe they mark you down if its just like 2 letters swapped around or something (high chance they dont even notice it since theres so much to mark and I sincerely doubt they pay that much attention to detail), but if u dont know how to spell something make sure u spell it the same everytime bc that makes errors less noticeable to the markers, at least so my teachers have said haha

i think they just want you to identify what stimulates/inhibits what in the flowchart, e.g. testosterone stimulates sperm production which then stimulates release of inhibin, which causes less lh/fsh to be released by the anterior pituitary gland due to negative feedback. they probably wouldn't expect us to know anything not deducible from the flowchart - e.g. it's pretty obvious inhibin is a hormone and acts on anterior pituitary in a negative feedback loop, but there's no indication of what it specifically does to cause this. and can be deduced from flowchart that leydig cells are stimulated by lh to produce testosterone, that's probably the extent to which we need to actually describe their function or smt

agree that the sample answer is terrible, grammar and logic kinda weird

I attempted this question and it turned into rambling so fast for me 😭 , try to apply negative feedback (stimulus response pathway) and pos feedback pathway, probably starting with the hypothalamus and working your way down the diagram

this is one of those annoying questions where its less abt knowledge and more about how cohesive you can be unfortunately
