basically it's just a tone indicator??? almost???? idk man i just use it when it feels right. i'd maybe use just lots of "......." instead but saying "ough........" has a different feeling than "ough,,,,,,,,"?? kinda the same way "" and ":]" have different feels if you get what i mean. both are basically just a smiley face, but the intent feels different ig (also i can't get rid of the emoji smiley face just imagine it's a colon bracket)

yeah i think it comes from tumblr but i've also seen it used on twt more often recently so ig its just been spreading. but yeah i adopted it from there! also yeah i'm pretty sure the ;;;;; also comes from tumblr, it almost feels like a sweatdrop if ykwim
