so for in class essays i usually memorise body paragraphs (even if i dont need to its like training wheels for me in the sense that if i freeze and can't recall things in an exam i have something to write and go back to fix if i have time). it works well for me most of the time

so this time around for mod b my assessment is worth more than trials and i feel like i need to memorise multiple essays worth of stuff bc i dont know if i can have 1 adpatible essay wwithout it being too broad. for context my exam is supposed to look exactly like mod b questions in paper 2 except with 10 min planning time (i cant start my essay durin this time just planning on a totally seperate sheet) im doing ts eliot poetry

so you cant talk me out of memorising stuff overall (for the ppl that say oh you should be able to come up with things on the spot) but i need to know what and how much people memorise for mod b in the hsc and what worked for people.

most of class of 24' students from my school said they memorised like 3 diff essays and just wrote whichever one was most relevant to the question. other people said im writing one base essay and figuring out a way to adapt it to the question and others say they are going in with quotes and praying for the best (not doing this one)

i did eliot for hsc and i had a 'main essay' (so my thesis, my bp1 on rhapsody with a link to prelude to hit that organic unity aspect of the syl, alongside bp2 on magi with links to rhapsody and hollow if i had time).

i also made paragraphs on all of the other poems that weren't part of my main essay in case of a mandate and i memorised other thesis statements which related to diff themes in eliot's poetry (although i used my 'main essay' in the hsc i found that when practicing for curve ball qs, this was useful). i think my teacher said you should have one thesis relating to the 'spiritual', another relating to industrial decay and setting maybe??? but tbh i dont rmbr the third cause its been a while.

since mod b is probably the most flexible mod, there's a lotta diff ways you can approach it (eg. just memorising thesis statements and quotes + rough analysis) but this is what i found to have worked for me (for reference i got 18.5/20 as my raw mark for eliot in the hsc). if you want i can also send you my paras and stuff :)

When I had my mod b assessment, we were told it was going to be one of 3 essay questions so we obviously had to memorise 3 essays for that assessment. Given that you're doing ts Eliot as well, it would be wise to have at least 3 poems where you have memorised a lot of analysis and quotes for them, and have a solid understanding of the context and meaning of each. They can also specify a certain poem or have an extract from a poem that's not one of the 3 so you would need to know quotes and a general gist and understanding of those two, at the very least. 3 different essays should therefore be a good middle ground between having just one adaptable essay, and having to memorise multiple essays.

for us they didnt specify any questions however they were supposed to mirror the hsc and multiple full essays arent achievable for me but i can do mutltiple essays worth of analysis (at the least 1 paragraph for each poem in case they specify a poem + rough analysis and quotes) so ill have to see how that goes for me
