Nah more than that happened lol

aww man that HJs brings back memories of a lot of stuff that happened with mates last sem

    UNSW Chit Chat Thread

Re: UNSW Chit Chat Thread 2015. All I remember is to take a branch cut for log where z is real and less than - 1 because then it isn't analytic

    dummy variables

    no u = a - x x = a - u du/dx = -1 du = -dx So int(f(x)dx) = - int(f(a-u)du) Also, int(f(a-x)dx) = - int(f(u)du) Substitute them in appropriately and it should make sense.

    UNSW Chit Chat Thread

Re: UNSW Chit Chat Thread 2015. Contact arts faculty. A nice e-mail to the person who is usually in charge of the course would do you well.

    Solar cells

Basically, the pn junction consists of an electric field due to the depletion region. The incident photons will excite the electrons. The frequency of the photons will decide whether the electrons will obtain enough energy to leave the depletion area and hence providing a free carrier (hole or...

General maths or no maths at all?

Just avoid finance, actuarial and economics when you get to Commerce at uni and you should be ok.

What's the grill-to-boy ratio for both Computer Science AND Software Engineering?

I have never heard of gender based bonus points before at UNSW. If they exist, provide evidence please to avoid leaving people confused. However I know that there are some gender exclusive scholarships. Those definitely do exist.

What's the grill-to-boy ratio for both Computer Science AND Software Engineering?

Yeah wait until you walk into the wrong lecture and find yourself amongst circuits and mechanical systems. There are better ratios in quite a few other areas of engineering though.

Buying a laptop for Computer Science....

At the end of the day, Mac, Linux and Windows are all fine for coding. Also there is no "best". It just comes down to personal preference. At the end of the day, you can compile. However, if you want optimised results, of course it will boil down to which compiler you use. However, I don't...

Rant. Problem. Long scenario. I don't know what to do.

Stronger bonds have a tendency to stay strong even through some issues. That's why B and A can still stay friends at this stage. Although, it depends on how they see it both and if it is benefiting both of them, otherwise they could drift apart if the situation is bad. Case in point, I've seen...

    Mechatronic vs Electrical

At UNSW, you'll touch basic circuit design. Albeit, Computer Engineering will go into much more depth of circuit design than Mechatronics. Mechatronics is pretty much control systems. You can interface control systems with computing, electronics, mechanical systems, chemical reactions, etc...

    UNSW Open Day 2015

It's nice inside and better than many other buildings on campus. It's quite new as well. As for other uni's, I have no idea about their comp sci buildings as I have never been to them.

    UNSW Open Day 2015

Also Heaviside can be understood in full depth when learning about residual theorems, which of course isn't in HSC.

    UNSW Open Day 2015

The building is not even open on weekends unless you are a member of CSE and have a student/staff id. There are students and staff in the buildings during weekends doing other stuff. The building is full of good computers; that's pretty much it lol.

    UNSW Open Day Meet

ON you had the right idea but failed to implement it properly; again. Make a new thread for the Open Day meet with a proper poll and proper information; (or maybe someone else do it !!!!!) I won't do it as I can't attend an Open Day meet (I'll be really busy that day). Also, for any questions...

Studying Engineering in university with no maths background

Moved to a separate thread. I will give my chip in here. If a very very smart student wanted to study Engineering or Science in university, with a General Maths or no maths background, then in my opinion one summer bridging course still isn't enough. To put it into perspective, I believe the...

Is Engineering (Civil)/Science (Physics) a good idea?

Your work load will be the same regardless. The only thing that will change is the length of your program. Only do what you like. In general, it will only allow you to have the option of going into something else when you graduate. However, if you plan to just work as an engineer once you...
