    Renewable Engineering at UNSW

Recommend at least 3U maths. 4U would be a good idea. Motors and Generators and Ideas to Implementation from the HSC Physics syllabus would be very useful theory and can help a bit. Not a necessity having that prior knowledge however.

    Thicker wires for lower voltage?

This is not the only reason behind the requirement of thicker wires. Wires of different thickness will have different impedances (or resistance in DC as you have been taught in HSC). The impedance can be large if the wire is too thin. For all wiring, there is a maximum amount of current...

    UNSW Open Day 2015

Freebies are scattered everywhere around campus with different promotional ideas, so without a doubt you should be able to get quite a few freebies b(^_^)d

    UNSW Open Day 2015

Hi everyone. So UNSW Open Day is just around the corner. Its a really good day to get you keen towards what you want to study at university. The Open Day is on Saturday the 5th of September 2015. From personal experience, if you take advantage of this day you will end up happier. Back when...

What car do you drive? (the new one)

They sound very good, but it's just not practical.

What car do you drive? (the new one)

Don't even bother. The harmonics are enough. Louder isn't necessarily fun. It can drone on and get annoying imo.

    FINS1613 summer school roll call

Well it's funny because Pete must have people lurking here for him or he is lurking himself lol. Also, I didn't take it in sem 1 because of Rob. I took it because I heard it was quite a simple course. And it did turn out simple for the amount of effort I put into it last sem.

Should I use my old laptop or buy a new one?

Well given you are doing comp sci courses, you want something that you can code on any time during uni, or if your uni offers it (for example, UNSW does) then you can use computers at uni which allow you to freely code any time you want. Also, for maths courses, I can imagine using a tablet...

    Semester 2 Fees

Yeah I defer on SA-HELP. Otherwise you can pay it now if you want.

Re: UNSW Chit Chat Thread 2015. Tomorrow should be good. 6 hours of lectures but get to catch up with mates haha.

    Architecture VS Civil Engineering

Yeah there have been stories of people who have delayed graduation due to being unable to find paid work. I think it does need to be paid in a sense (not necessarily full-time payment though).

    Architecture VS Civil Engineering

Also with different universities, I would say the difference comes down to content covered in courses and resources/laboratories/equipment available.

    Architecture VS Civil Engineering

From what I've heard, there are more opportunities with civil. However, I encourage you to consider what you actually like more. In terms of content, civil and architecture are quite different. It would be good if you decide on what you like more instead. Also, I think UNSW and USyd provide...

CARS & RIDES & Mighty Car Mods

I have no idea, maybe base model. Umm nah if they hear the words "testing" and "Tesla Model S" in the same sentence, then they can assume that someone is going to destroy a very expensive car.

    Preliminary Physics

You could also do this with a trolley attached to a mass that is hanging off an edge. Then you let go of the mass and it falls to the ground, dragging the trolley with it. Maybe at the edge of the table you could have a barrier. On a slight tangent, which may be helpful information to others...

CARS & RIDES & Mighty Car Mods

I wanna try and somehow get into a situation where I can borrow the uni Tesla Model S. Yes UNSW actually owns a Tesla Model S.
