But in regards to my CSM's point of view, would she be benefiting at all by putting me on PPT? I think I'll wait if and/or when my hours get cut down. Also, I think I'm going to join the union during the summer break so that I can apply for the textbook scholarship and get myself $1000...

Well, like I said before, I'm always like in the 'top 5' scan rate things, out of over 60 workers. This is pretty good as I work like 20+ hours a week and some only work one shift, longer you work, harder it is to have a good average I guess. This is only after there for a few months. Anyways...

We're going to be getting self-serve registers in my store (which is a Central store, gets REALLY busy, but most transactions are less than 1 basket). I think over 100 000 people pass through our checkouts weekly. Something BS like that. Anyways, I'm a bit worried that self-serve is going to...

Yeah, if they screw you over, you screw them over! Way to fail if all you can answer for your life is working at a supermarket.

And if you're a casual worker, they can tell you to go home after three hours (or three and a half) if it's really quiet.

Not their job to determine if you lied or not.

Worked for me. I am a casual employee, my employer doesn't need to know the details of my life. And I'm not going to lie and say I am sick if I am not.

Yes it is. What do you think mental illness is? If you aren't mentally well, you're sick. Whether it's permanent or not.

On the note of bags. I read in the paper that Coles will be selling 15c bio-degradable plastic bags as of September. Looks like 'normal' plastic is going to be phased out nation-wide pretty soon!

I work in a Coles Central where EVERY register is express, I manage to explain that shitty gift card giveaway promotion.

In regards to spot checks, why don't you just get one supervisor to count during a busyish time when all the registers are in use? That's what we do, and we have our 'two' people. And as so counting cash at the end of the day and bagging up, you shouldn't do it all at the end of the night, but...
