    is having a tutor important??

if you're motivated yourself, and you have good resources at school, then no. i personally got 99+ without any tutoring for most of year 12. it was only in the 2nd half when my awesome awesome english teacher left and my parents started to freak out that i'd fail hsc english that i started...

Related Texts for Navigating the Global

hey! (: there are heaps of related texts for ntg out there in the world. basically you're looking for anything that has a cultural angle, or looks at globalisation. to name a few are: brick lane, anything by lavanya sankaran (look at her short stories, e.g. alphabet soup), also short stories...

    free english essay marking

lol, i agree, only using the word 3 times is overly harsh. i used a crapload of adjectives, but still had to use 'belonging' 13 times in my essay and got 98 externally (97 overall) in hsc and 15/15 for trials at ruse. i know people say you shouldn't use it very often because markers will get...

Why is everyone going to UNSW?

actually, they have been accepting applicants with those bonus points for a while now. i was told at the unsw info day that last year, 28% of the people accepted into unsw law were elite athletes/eas applicants/people who got that recommendation from their school (i think it's called AAA? idk)...

    UNSW info day

the criminology lecturers at unsw were awesome (: especially the one with the cool scottish/irish accent! if i hadn't wanted to do the course already, they definitely won me over. and i can say the same for all the law people. love how friendly and open everyone was @ unsw. they actually...

    Best Law Course?

international rankings, etc. you can google them. buuut, all that being said, i'm looking at the 2011 good universities guide right now and check this out - 18% of usyd graduates are seeking work, as opposed to 9% from uws [and 0% from unsw where i'm going ;D]. and their 'success compared' are...

    Best Law Course?

i would say go for macquarie. in terms of rankings it's one of the better universities for law [if that's the part of your degree you intend to focus and build a career on] and as far as i know better reputation = better chances of surviving in the real world, where law is concerned.

    Education Access Scheme

hey nilynily, i'm not entirely sure how the hsc plus system at unsw works, but it seems like you could get into eco just by using that, instead of eas? because you're awarded 2 bonus points if you get a band 5 in maths, which you did. so you should be able to get in?

    Education Access Scheme

^ that is how it works at usyd, but at unsw they actually award you bonus points. (see: http://www.unsw.edu.au/futureStudents/undergrad/sad/accessscheme.html#HowDoesTheACCESSSchemeWork? - it's explained very clearly). [i don't know about other universities though]. and when we contacted the...

Questions regarding with EAS (Educational Access Scheme)

i'm pretty sure that if you received your letter and your eligibility was "no" for certain universities, it means that what you applied for does not qualify as significant enough of a disadvantage for those particular unis to consider you under their own particular eas schemes [access for unsw...

    Unsw

i find it extremely frustrating how even the email says "if you are eligible". i mean, if we weren't, there'd be no point in sending it. i don't understand the need for all this ambiguity and vagueness >_<

    Parents reaction to ATAR?

lol, mothers x] and lol random people xD haha, noo, it was nowhere near that fabulous. i did nab a nice state rank, but it's nothing compared to your collection of state ranks xD congratulations on that btw!!

    Education Access Scheme

i'm pretty sure at unsw they do award bonus points depending on the severity. i'm still not entirely sure about how usyd works [cbb reading it as i'm not so much into usyd], but i should think your competitiveness should increase with the severity. i don't think you should feel guilty ^^ i...
