    animal science help!

I am definitely enjoying UNSW! It's a great uni, I like the campus, the facilities are good, and on the whole I much prefer university to high school. As for the course, it's still a bit hard to say whether I'm enjoying it or not. I have to admit I haven't really enjoyed the two first-year...

    animal science help!

Haha, that's the exact course I'm doing right now :) I wish I could offer a bit more insight into what it's like, but I've only done first year, and your first year in almost any science degree tends to be pretty generalised. I've only done two (out of seven) subjects this year that directly...

    TIPS for writing notes

Same for me, and very true. If you do type a lot faster than you write, getting a netbook is the way to go. My netbook was a lifesaver in some of my lectures during first semester this year, where the lecture notes provided basically had nothing more than headings, and the lecturer would ramble...

    Post Your Timetable - S1 2010 Edition

I had several lectures there last sem; didn't notice a smell at all.

    Post Your Timetable - S1 2010 Edition

Thanks :o Sounds good. They don't do anything stupid like holding tests etc during lecture timeslots (they did that for chem), do they?

What is UNSW like in terms of social life, for Aussie Caucasians?

Nah, it's not the reality of it, actually. I'm an "Aussie caucasian". I do science. There are plenty of caucasians in science. I did have an Asian lab partner in first semester, but I SURVIVED.

    Bridging Courses

If you're going to be doing any chemistry subjects, I definitely recommend doing the chem bridging course if you've done no chemistry before. I reckon it was the difference between a pass and a fail for me. And in any case, bridging courses also help you get used to uni life before you...

What is UNSW like in terms of social life, for Aussie Caucasians?

You're worried about the toilets? Come on. Regardless of what uni you go to - even the prestigious Sydney uni - you will encounter a wide variety of toilets. At UNSW, we have the full range to choose from! There are newer toilets and older toilets. There are cleaner toilets and slightly...

    Post Your Timetable - S1 2010 Edition

I really do feel sorry for you engineers. :( ...woo, solid 9am starts!...rather you than me. :p Mine: Woo, day off! With a full load! Excellent. Plus my hypothetical timetable ended up being my actual timetable so I'm pretty happy with that.

    Summer Holidays Chatter Thread 09-10

It might depend on the message that's shown when you click 'View Timetable'. If it says "The selected course is currently not recorded as offered in 2010", then yeah, it's probably not running next semester. (I have experienced this way too many times to count, in terms of 'planning' my degree...

    general UNSW chit-chat

Thanks for the opinions - I did go with option 2, since I figure anything that doesn't make me want to punch the lecturer must be an improvement. (btw this is for my second major / minor; still sticking with bio.) Sounds about right. *feels reassured*

    general UNSW chit-chat

'k bos, I have a hypothetical 'What Would You Do?' question for anyone who feels like answering it, involving a choice between two uni study plans. (I have already made up my mind btw, but am curious to see what other people would do.) Option 1: There is a course that sounds tailor-made for...

    Travel time to UNSW?

I live within a 5 minute drive of my old high school. On public transport it takes me 50 mins to get to UNSW on a good day, up to 1hr 30mins on a really bad day (they're rare). The one and only time I decided to drive to uni, it was during peakhour, and it ended up taking longer than public...

    - Best friend currently overseas til Christmas (and strangely uncontactable), other friends working full time and/or travelling themselves sometime and/or too busy with their own complex and tangled social lives, so very little hanging out for me. For now at least. - Working a full day every...

Well... If you bought it new, the book would come with a 'Wiley Plus Card', yes. But tbh I'm not sure how helpful that card actually is, or what it even does. I never found myself wanting, or needing, to use it. It's up to you :)

Yep, CHEM1011 and I assume it's for other first-year chem courses as well. :)
