I want to be a Psychologist?

+1 Probably has something to do with attention seeking though also...

Class participation - what's the point?

Well I'm 1st year so I guess I have no idea how annoying this component could come to be with showing up and all, but it seems like an easy 10% to me to just show up n contribute an answer every now and then.

    Fave author?

    Thomas Harris.

    catcher in the rye...

Studied this book in year 10, good read, read it 3 or 4 times since, lot of the class (dumb kids, essentially, most of them weren't really able to understand it) didn't like it though. 10/10. Wish I'd done it in year 12 instead of the piece of crap that is 'In the lake of the woods' or Robert...

How do you pick out the First Year Students

Yeah, I'm one of the ones who stops to look at maps all the time, though I disagree about ENTER/UAI asking, I'm @ Monash 1st yr, and out of all the randoms I talked to in lectures/tutes none of em asked my ENTER, the only dude that did was a kid from my school. They do all love to ask what...

What was ur first day @ Uni like, Uni Students?

I haven't had any lectures yet but I'm increasingly thinking I should've picked Arts/Marketing over Arts/Management lol. I'm statin to think a management degree is not particularly useful in comparison.

What do you eat at uni?

I think the uni food is probly fairly expensive n not great, to quote a 3rd year 'its shit'. I think I'll mostly stick with the Coles/7-11/Pizza/ round the corner.

    HECS confusion

Apparently not. My mate got onto the thing to select how he'd pay, he selected upfront seeing as he couldn't be fcked finding his Tax File Number (TFN). He then just recently checked his email to find he had a heap of messages about paying and that the university were already expecting a payment...

    Accounting Monash - Clayton

Wouldn't Caulfield be the place to go for Accounting? And no, I don't think a high score in further would guarantee you a place, though it is possible, but quite unlikely I'd think.

Exactly how useful is a single commerce degree?

I'm not 100% sure you need a psych degree for psychiatry, but I would have thought so. The difference between a psychologist and psychiatrist is quite minimal, basically that psychiatrists can prescribe drugs whereas psychologists can't.

Exactly how useful is a single commerce degree?

If we are talking high paying jobs then big business is where all the rich guys are, though for a degree that will give more of a guarantee there is psych+med for a psychiatrist. V high pay, but a lot of uni years. Something like a surgeon also especially good.

    Student ID Photo

It looks fairly dodgey, the whole thing was kind of blueish and I didn't look so great since I got up @ 9am and on the hols my standard time is about midday.
  13. G

    Ritalin - Adderall

I really doubt its a good idea to take drugs like that, especially when you aren't someone with a serious case of ADHD or the like, it just sounds unecessary. The way even little kids are stuck on numerous medications these days is just terrible, ok, I'm no psychiatrist @ all but the brain just...

    can you join diffeerent lecture?

As if it is 'stealing' - what you pay for is a degree, by sitting in on some random maths lecture when you're a psych student all you're doing is satisfying an interest, you don't sit the exam and come out with a degree. If anything it should benefit the uni as you probly stay on their campus...

    Enrolment Arts/Law

I'm also a bit confused about enrolment, though I'm doing a different double degree in Arts/Management, though the WES thing should be pretty similar. I have only set up one semester full of units, and I wasn't exactly sure how many units to put in lol. I have 2 from Arts (Behavioural...

    What would you choose??

I'd choose Marketing/Management. Apparently sports management has little on offer in terms of jobs. It sounds ok, but really, how many sports managers/ administrators are there in Australia? Probably not a lot. As for HR, I wouldn't do that as I really couldn't be bothered dealing with...

    Commerce vs Management

I'm not planning to do much uni accounting cause I couldn't even stand the 1/2 at school. It was a joke, terribly monotononous, most of the teachers that taught it seemed to struggle to engage in it themselves. Admittedly it is a bit more difficult than management, at least at HS, but imo it was...

    Likelihood of 2nd round offers

After 1st round offers came out, I missed my 1st preference (Melbourne Arts), though got my second. I missed out by 0.5 on the 89.0 Clearly-In, though apparently 2nd round goes down to something strangely low like 83. Does this 83 mean that you could really possibly get in with an ENTER as low...

    pretty pumped for uni?

Yeah, I'm excited, I'd had enough of High School since year 8 really, couldn't wait to move on. In fact, I remember thinking on about the first day of year 7 'Fuck, why I am here? I shouldn't be here, what am I in for?'. Hopefully that feeling won't sink in when University actually begins...

People's reactions when you say "I study Psychology"

I just did yr12, so never done uni psch but I did it in year 12, and there are a few reasons: 1. People reckon its bullshit 2. I'm male and the VCE cohort for psych was 7/8 female 3. It is a fairly easy subject (Scales down 2, @ VCE its like biol+memory+learning - v boring. Sort of considered...
