My answers (not including long response)

We always deal in conventional current though, not in the flow of electrons.

    Principle of Relativity (Inertial/Non-inertial)

I think so. that's the experiment that i did, except i used a train. the frame of reference of the mass is basically the same frame of reference as the bus/train
  3. W

    Principle of Relativity (Inertial/Non-inertial)

I actually think that was one of the hardest questions to get full marks on because it was one of those "airy fairy" questions where you have to write exactly what they want you to write, otherwise you'll lose marks. I think i may have lost a mark on that question

    General Thoughts: Physics

With the torque question with the load of 40 g and needing to find B, was the torque only on half of the coil, or on the entire coil? In T = BIA, was B 0.3 x 0.1 or 0.6 x 0.1
  5. W

    Principle of Relativity (Inertial/Non-inertial)

thats what i said except i think they may have have been wanting implied knowledge of what a non-inertial frame is, so i think the word "accelerating" was needed

    Error carried forward?

THats good because i think i gave my first answer in the wrong units which will cost me one mark but if its error carried forward then i should only lose one mark for that question
  7. W

    Error carried forward?

Does anybody know whether the markers use "error carried forward." I may have made a mistake in part a) of the relativity (the 0.99999c q), so does anybody know whether that means i will automatically get 0 for part b)? or will i get full marks because i used the value obtained from a), by...

    Length Contraction Question 0.99999c answers

What did people get for part a) and b) of the length contraction question?
  9. W

    Energy Transformations Question

When you say heading do you mean TItle or just a heading for each column of the table
  10. W

    Error?

My bad too, wasn't reading the right question (probably better to do that now than in the actual exam)
  11. W

    Question 20?

LOL i'll take 75% for that Question
  12. W

    Question 20?

Thats what i mean though. DId we need to mention things like the motor effect, electromagnetic induction, etc?
  13. W

    Error?

Was that the AC induction motor question? If so, wasn't the point just to say that it rotates in the same direction as a rotating magnetic field, so the same direction as the magnet, like in an induction motor
  14. W

    Question 20?

how much detail do we need to go into though? Do we need to mention transformers? I just wrote three of something like: Radio Transforms electrical energy into sound energy (and some heat energy in the circuits) Used to provide a sound output as entertainment or...

    That was a difficult paper

Despite the disproportionate amount of maths, you've got to give them credit for finding new ways to phrase old questions (projectile motion) that still manage to stump people. I was surprised that there was nothing on Isaac Newton or Einstein for written responses (apart from the inertial...

    Energy Transformations Question

THanks for the quick post. Thats similar to what I wrote, but i know some people who gave a lot of detail on loudspeakers, induction cooktops, cathode ray tubes in televisions, etc.
  17. W

    Energy Transformations Question

How much detail did everyone go into for that question? Can someone give me an example of what you wrote?
  18. W

    The Transistors In Australia question

I can remember writing, "use of transistors in mobile phones and laptops has enabled instantaneous communication between people without landlines or in cars" but i'm not sure whether that will cut it. i should probably stop worrying
  19. W

    The Transistors In Australia question

btw i was reading the "predicted questions" thread for the 2009 thread and somebody picked the Large Hadron Collider question, but apart from that everyone was pretty off from what the questions actually were
  20. W

    The Transistors In Australia question

I'm just thinking back to that transistors question and im wondering what everyone else wrote, coz i have two questions about it: 1) do u think i'll lose a mark for not actually mentioning australia, just for doing the standard, generic answer about why valves were replaced 2) Did anyone...
