i think you'll find that it was actually religion that was restricting the growth of science and knowledge, not just the middle ages but throughout all of history

just go to your uni's o-week and im sure you'll make friends there. also during hsc friends arnt really that important. on the other hand if your smart you can attract other people by helping them although you should make sure you're not being used
