Can my externals save me that much?

http://community.boredofstudies.org/461/atar-hsc-marks/339127/scaling-%E2%80%93-you-your-friends-hsc.html Also, it's important to note you're in a top 40 school. This rank will probably help you a lot regardless, and a mark in the mid 60s when placed in perspective probably isn't that bad at all.

    The External Supervisors

Only really answering from memory so I may be incorrect: 1) No. 2) Should probably refrain from saying "thanks" but it shouldn't constitute as cheating. 3) I think so. 4) If you're going to use the paper(s), keep them on your table. 5) You should talking about this with your...

    Poem Analysis

I presume this is a poem for Aboriginal rights, or at least this is the impression I get from the poetry? Basically it seems to be protesting against the Australian government, which according to this poem denies the Indigenous people of their human rights. This is illustrated as the real shame...

    Screwed up my trials!

Yes, you're right, there are a lot of other posts here like this - so for starters you're not alone. Firstly it's not really wise for you to make assumptions on how much your ranks have dropped or how much you screwed up in your trials because the fact is you can't really defintively know. I had...

Which subjects should I take for year 12?

What course do you want to do at university?

    The missing Malaysian Airlines...

Money not going here doesn't mean it'll automatically go to what you're talking about. It'd probably have more chance of going to the military.

    Why do we study English?

Still a pretty limited form of expression to be honest, as you highlighted above yourself. Like OzKo already said, learning to write essays should probably extend across many different areas. Research reports would be good too, since there's a fair few of them in university, and they are...

    Why do we study English?

He's trying to say that what you stated might not necessarily be what is offered for some people. Rote learning essays might not necessarily teach people to express themselves better. Reading texts people don't enjoy might not necessarily teach people to express themselves better. It's got...

    Why do we study English?

Yeah I attempt to objective when this topic is brought up (and it's brought up a lot on here), since I did 4 units of English and it was among my best marks. Not to mention I've done my fair share of arts units in university too. I think on a whole English can encourage wider reading, but some...

    Why do we study English?

You're right in saying it's not for everyone, in the long term a lot of the things you mentioned probably won't be relevant for many people out there in terms of the direction they choose to go (i.e. not arts related). :haha:

Am I going to get an ATAR of 80.00+?

I can't predict how you'll do in the HSC exams, so it's not really realistic for me to make a judgement on probability. But the fact is, the rational thing for you to do is continue studying regardless of the answer received.

    Why do we study English?

Having better communication skills doesn't always make you a better person.

Am I going to get an ATAR of 80.00+?

Yes, it's possible. Try to improve a little in the HSC exams to stay on the safe side though.

    Why do we study English?

This is why I said it depends on the state as a whole. While this might've been the case for your school (it was more assumed knowledge in mine to be honest), this might not be the case for other schools. I've personally seen and heard of a lot of cases where students are poor in these areas by...

    Why do we study English?

Be more about emphasising how essays are written (and not just in relevance to fiction). Depending on the state as a whole too, perhaps there should be more building upon the fundamentals like grammar, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary, etcetera.

    Why do we study English?

Because there is probably no other subject that could be more reasonably done by everyone else. (Maybe General Mathematics?) Having said that, I am of the opinion that the subject could definitely improve in how it's taught.

    Screwed up internals?

Not really logical to make conclusions on your marks for trials when you haven't received them back yet. If you're in one of the top selective schools you probably wouldn't be doing too bad with average ranks. Why do you need to have 96 though? Also either way you can still improve your ATAR...

    Subject Selection for year 11 & 12

All in all I completely understand if you end up taking General Mathematics because it makes you feel more assured about things - and it can be the ATAR booster if you do well in it. But you'll have to make sure to keep up the work. :)

    Subject Selection for year 11 & 12

Look I know the HSC seems like a pretty important thing and in some ways it is, but in some ways it isn't. Regarding the future, if you're not at all interested in doing anything mathematics related in university, then your ATAR is going to be the main predictor to whether you'll get into a...
