If that's the case, then it's about time Microsoft picked up the slack. MS has made its share of OSs in its day, and XP's run as its flagship OS has been rather....extended, compared to earlier ones like 98 and 2000. Time for MS to get back into the flow and step up after their stuff-up with Vista.

With HD-DVD, Blu-Ray's main competitor, out of the picture I reckon it'll just be a matter of waiting for the prices of the Blu-Ray players and the disks themselves to drop to competitive levels before it "takes over" and becomes standard until the next big thing shows up.:)

Problems like this should be expected when using new-but-questionable OSs. I've stuck with XP for quite a while now, and after hearing stuff like this, I think I'll stick with it for a while yet.
