As the others have said, read more frequently and a wider variety of books. If you go out of your way to increase your vocabulary by, say, reading a dictionary most of the words you choose will be out of context, unnatural, and markers can usually tell.

First topic was the Decline and Fall of the Romanov Dynasty, which is fascinating and probably my favourite historical topic so far...now we're doing the Boxer Rebellion, which is pretty interesting though we've only done background stuff at the moment.

Liking it so far in most of my subjects, especially English and Modern. The new environment is great too. Very different from my Junior School. Not much homework at all so far and nothing to really study for except my Ancient stuff. So. :) Overall it's pretty great.

I like them so far. They mean that I can go home around 12 on Wednesdays and 10 on Fridays. Have yet to use them for actual study or homework, but I'm sure as the workload increases along with my desperation that use shall come into play. :)

Respecting your opinion, and I do agree that a lot of the books can be pretty generic and "sappy", but I think you'd find a lot of those are the ones that are actually those that appeal more to a wider public, are sold better, and therefore are made into movies such as the one we're posting...
