    Semester 2 2008 Spring Results!

You can't figure out exact marks, but you can figure out the various combinations of mark-bands you may have gotten. I'll use mine as an eg Last semester, my GPA was 6.071. At that point I had completed 28 units, so the total value of all my grade points was 170 (i.e. GPA x total units...

    Semester 2 2008 Spring Results!

I think you do if it's above a certain amount, $25 or something? Have a look on the library website cause i know it says on there in the "fees and fines" part or whatever it's called.

    Semester 2 2008 Spring Results!

Awesome thanks guys :) Hope it doesn't change from that as my GPA has gone up to 6.125 woot which makes my GPA for this semester 6.5 so either 2 HDs and 2 Ds or 3 HDs and a C Either way i'm happy cause it means my law GPA is FINALLY! above 6! :) Pity it is because of my electives and not my...

    Academic Scholarship

Do you still qualify if you take a gap year for some? Cause i know for my scholarships, at least back in 2004 when I applied for it, you had to start the next year and can't take any breaks during your degree. Its good if some let you take the gap year though :)

    Academic Scholarship

I got the UWS Academic Excellence Scholarship and the Blacktown City Council UWS Academic Excellence Scholarship. I had a UAI of 98.3 A sibling got an academic schoalrship at UWS also with a UAI of around 93 (i think). I guess you'd be looking at mid 90s to be in with a good chance, at the...

    appealing your final grades

The alteration in mark is not always a result of a 're-mark' per se - sometimes it is as simple as a clerical error or a marker failing to mark all pages/booklets. I know of people who failed a unit because some of their exam paper was misplaced and they were consequently only marked on one of...

what exactly is the subject equity about?

At UWS we have Equity Trusts & Remedies 1 and ET&R 2. Although they are changing the structure of the 2 units so they won't overlap as they do a bit now, the content will be the same, just studied in a different order/pattern - so, ss an idea of what it covers, this is the 'topic list' for each...

    Summer School 2009

Forgot to update the post - I asked the Law School, and its up on Pweb now but for some reason it's showing up in a separate table above autumn & Spring 2009. They said its a matter of just showing up as there's only one class so no tute rego for mine. Students who did immigratoin & refugee...

have you ever done well in a law exam even though you thought you stuffed up badly?

Re: have you ever done well in a law exam even though you thought you stuffed up badl I thought I bombed out in Family Law but ended up getting the highest mark in the exam and overall. Thought I really failed in Equity Trusts & Remedies 1 as well but ended up with a credit. So you never know...

    Summer School 2009

Hey everyone, Does anyone know, as far as summer session units that are under the "long summer session timetable", are they not supposed to show up on Platform Web? Just wondering as I enrolled in one unit in the LSS timetable and it hasn't appeared in Pweb but another i enrolled in for...

    Farewell Co-op Bookshop

I and others are annoyed as it doesn't seem it will be all set up, ready to accept purchases before summer session startsm particularly as long summer session starts december 1. And we will be even more annoyed if when it is up and running they don't have the online lists like Co-op that enable...

    alternative entry

Doing TAFE first isn't such a bad idea - you'd be surprised how many subjects you get credited for the uni degree. Eg - i did the Human Resource Management/Industrial Relations major in my busienss degree and i knew a lot of people who came from TAFE together and they all seemed to get a...

    Where to buy law books?

I wouldnt rely on any of teh UWS co-op bookshops. The genius that is UWS has decided that buying out Co-Op is a good idea so soon it will no longer exist at uws.

    Help needed!

Some it is harder than others. Like anything, it depends on your natural abilities/aptitude for the content and how much effort you put in. From my experience, there are a few units that it is much harder to achieve distinctions in but for the most part - its definitely possible provided that...

    Summer clerkships

I'm not saying it's a valid excuse for anyone and everyone in that circumstance, but for some people it may be.

    Summer clerkships

I personally found it more difficult to find jobs at that time of year, being the beginning of the year, as most firms seem to do their recruiting for that 6 monts or so at the end of the previous year. I'm not saying it's impossible to find a job, but at minimum it'd take you a week to...

    Help needed!

If your heart is set on doing Law, personally I would go for the Comm/Law option as you have no guarantees that you'll be able to transfer from the non law degree to the law one, so at least this way you are in law to begin with. If you are really keen to do law, it's better to be doing it...

    Summer clerkships

Could also be that a lot simply didn't apply? I didn't apply for any as I have absolutely no desire to work in the firms/areas that offer clerkships that are worth applying for and I know a few friends thought the same as they want to go into crim or family etc Also - someone mentioned the...

    Honours Dissertation

Your last sentence is thankfully exactly what is happening. That and, UWS grads have been in existence long enough now to have jobs at the bigger firms and in more prestigious roles. Certainly helps the image that Kirby's new/last associate is a UWS grad. Just unfortunate that much of the...

    Honours Dissertation

Thanks for the replies everyone but - spoke with our course advisor and i can't do it anyway. They're making it a 20 credit point unit (i.e. equal to 2 units) and i only have space for 1 more unit so i can't fit it in. Doesn't matter too much though as since I started the degree before they...
