    Simpsons rule question

If it was the question such as your example; i would zero because you can assume it's zero as it depicts it. But if it were the other diagram, then i would not use zero because can't assume zero or bring in another value cos they precisely have given us four, therefore i would use the four...

    Simpsons rule question

Sorry to put you through the trouble; but look here
  11. NEVAGIVEUP

    Simpsons rule question

My point is that they would not give a diagram without the zero, if it needs a zero. There will never be a diagram with a missing value or four values
  12. NEVAGIVEUP

    Simpsons rule question

    BINGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!:karate:
  13. NEVAGIVEUP

    Simpsons rule question

Then why would we use zero; if zero was to be used then, the diagram should have depicted another line with the value of zero; And when we apply simpsons rule twice that's what we do; we take the 1st and 2nd three e.g. a shape that has vales respectively 12,14,16,17,18 you would use 12,14,16...
  14. NEVAGIVEUP

    Simpsons rule question

You can't use zero because the four sides of the shape have values, therefore the values must be used, but considering that there are four sides it can't work; unless you use 8, 10, 19 in the 1st application and 10, 19, 40 in the second
  15. NEVAGIVEUP

    Simpsons rule question

Does the question specifically state that you must use the Simpsons rule?

HUGE problem with future value and annuities

But how do we know that for the two years after the 8 year annuity, that the money was placed as a lump sum; there is no verification that the money is still considered a lump sum or an annuity; do i make sense? :S
  17. NEVAGIVEUP

    Simpsons rule question

I'm highly dubious that you can calculate using the Simpsons rule for such a question; And who ever said to use zero; you can't because there are four lengths given; which is not correct

    fsadfas

A surfactant reduces the surface tension for water to allow the oil and water to mix An emulsifying agent suspends the dirt allowing it to be washed You just need to mention the key words: Surfactant; reduces surface tension Emulsifying agent: suspends dirt Goodluck!

    ANNUITIES Question...

Both the future value and present value formulae are provided in the formulae sheet, but just remember if the question says: 1. 'future value' or value in so and so years; you use the annuity formula; remember that annuities are consistent contributions 2. 'lump sum' or something that...

HUGE problem with future value and annuities

Did it mention a specific compounding rate, such as compounded anually or monthly? Try using a scientific calculator, you don't want the same mistake tomorrow. Also, remember that the compounding period is not '8', as the question asks for '10', so therefore must 10
