    Med Interview + HSC tutoring

It's pretty good, but a lot of stuff just goes over my head and half the time im sitting in my lectures going wtf. That said the other half of my time is going how stupid is med since it's loaded with a lot of bureaucracy such as ethics and "quality of medical practice" which is essentially a...

    Med Interview + HSC tutoring

Depends on what aspect of medicine you want. UNSW is better for clinical med, USYD is better for research med.

    Med Interview + HSC tutoring

The uni conducts the interview, and the format of the interview depends on the uni. UNSW and USYD are a panel, which is 2 or 3 people for around half an hour to 45 minutes. MMI's are multiple stations or mini-interviews. This is conducted my UWS and JMP (UNE/

How much should a private tutor charge?

$35 is reasonable for the following reasons: 1) She is putting time behind the scenes for your learning preparing materials etc 2) She has a plan for your learning and seems organised 3) Because she is teaching at home, she has access to all her resources. This is one of the reasons that I do...

WARNING to all students look for tutors. Most are greeedy, too expensive.

For someone who is an economist, what you are saying is rather sad. I can charge whatever price for my services because I know that there is sufficient demand that fits within my work capacity. If you have a problem with this, please do not take it out on others who are trying to earn some...

Private coaching vs Centre based coaching?

Go private for english, and small group for maths (max 3). Go to a centre for phys/chem/bio.

    Coaching rates?

I charge $50/h privately for yr 11 and 12 students, and $30/h for yr 7/8 students. The difference is because I get stacks of emails from my senior students asking for marking of essays and questions etc. Also I give them loads of past papers, and go out of my way to accommodate them (missed many...

I REALLY need a high ATAR!! ATAR estimate please!

You dont need 99.6 to get into UNSW med (unless you UMAT was terrible). In my course there are people with UMAT scores around 90 and ATARS of low 99's so dw. your interview is probably the most important thing (apart from UMAT)

How to get a 99.95 + State Rankings

This is so true, you have to work on your english, but its also very important to look at your extracurricular/leadership/volunteering activities. If you are hell bent on med (at USYD, Melb or UNSW), a good portion of your interview will be about these aspects of your life.

How to get a 99.95 + State Rankings

Also if you're aiming for 99.95 to get into Sydney, you should apply at The University of Melbourne and study med there. It's the same degree length, considered the top medical degree in Australia and you also receive a scholarship of $10000 (and there's also the chance of receiving a $20000...

How to get a 99.95 + State Rankings

I've just read the first part of this whole thread, and this is my 2 cents. Firstly it is amazing that you are working so hard this early on. Some people were concerned about the fact that you would burn out, but this is what my mentor told me when I was doing HSC to keep me motivated...

Advice on whether to drop subjects?

This is what I suggest: Keep all your subjects for as long as possible till after the half yearlies. From you half yearly examination results, decide on what to drop. I was a science/maths sort of guy so if I was in your position I would drop legal studies. However, if you are good at...

    2011 HSCers offer tutoring?

He definitely worked hard in year 12, but if had put more effort or got some help in year 11, he would have been in the top 4u maths streams. The teachers in these two streams are gun, one even wrote cambridge, and in 4u, the quality of your teacher can have huge impacts on your results.

    2011 HSCers offer tutoring?

Couldn't have said it better. As you can see from my ad, I am only offering support in Chemistry and Physics. These two subjects were my favourite and I ranked first overall in at school. I should have mentioned that I already have students 1 to 1, but with uni starting soon, I can't keep...

    2011 HSCers offer tutoring?

My friend missed out by 0.05 trying to get into USYD Law. If he had worked harder in year 11 for maths (which was easily his weakest subject), he could have been moved to the A or B math classes (which are taught by a gun and the guy who wrote Cambridge respectively) and would be doing arts/law...
