    The Woolworths Thread

lol of course I'm still alive. I have been on holidays since Christmas Day and as a result, can't report on anything new. Also, the bombing occured at an insurance office that occupies the plaza with Woolies being the anchor tennant (though I think they own it). I worked at a Woolies in the...

    The Woolworths Thread

Hey guys, I'm about to be shipped to QUT Kelvin Grove and will also be living in the Urban Village. Can someone list me three stores that are closest to QUT and the Urban Village? Google and the Woolies Store Locactor are showing contradictory results (Some are pointing to suburbs miles away...

2010 University Offers Thread (UAC, VTAC, etc) (No Spam)

Got accepted into Swinburne for Media and Communications, missing out on my first preference at University of Melbourne. Still I could still get UNSW on Wednesday. Anyone know why they are released at night and not in the morning (Kinda guessing it's got something to do with international students)

What was ur first day @ Uni like, Uni Students?

My first day of uni was rather anti-climatic. Either it was because my mum used to work at the uni for 10 years or that it's the only university in town, but my first day at CDU was a non-event compared to my first days at primary, high and senior school.

    The Woolworths Thread

The only reason why I haven't chucked in my resignation is because I need it when I transfer (potentially in two weeks) interstate. By keeping Woolies, I don't have to go chasing for jobs. Then when things look up, I'll resign, something that has been three years in the making. What about...

when does uac main round preferences close?

I just wanna know why one would leave it THIS late. I did mine waaaaay back in August. It makes a rats arse difference in if I get accepted, but I did it in August so all I had to do was worry about it in two weeks time. The applications have been open since August. Why? I hate to say it, but if...

    pretty pumped for uni?

I'm pumped just for the offers. A chance to leave Darwin for good. Is it really possible to be one year into uni and fail 5 potential university offers by QTAC/VTAC/UAC?

    The Woolworths Thread

Plastic bag bans are to be introduced in the Territory some time in the future. I for one support it. Not so much the environmental impact, but how customers, particularly Asians ask for a plastic bag for small things, casuing shortages at pissweak times. Woolies is supposed to follow a Less...

    The Woolworths Thread

I think it doesn't matter until cash office asks you to do a pickup and you follow standard pick up procedure (Count x amount of 50's, 20's, 10's and 5's and send the rest along with EFTs to the cash office)

    Rules for Customers

Oh hear hear about that. I miss Woolies 2007 where you could conduct a transaction without having to repeat the question so many times (and piss off a customer, possibly leading to a complaint), skip one customer, piss them off because they have to keep the docket and now I can piss them off...

    The Woolworths Thread

Er yeah. So for example a 200g box of yummy, crunchy Arnott's Cheese and Bacon Shapes costs $3.05. Some of the specials have them listed at 2 for $4.00 others reduce it to $2.95. I was told by someone at Big W that the last cent is because it helps sort what to do with the product like lines...

The last cent in all the products on shelves. Are they randomly added or is it simply a status of the product (ie. 00 priced products are about to be deleted, 05 products are on special etc)?

    The Woolworths Thread

Damn. Just need another way to move up. In other news, as of January 2, stores such as my own and Nightcliff will have their trading hours reduced. Previously, Nightcliff ran from 6am to 12am Monday to Saturday and my store was 7am to 11pm. This is certainly bad news for the drugged derros...

    Rules for Customers

Totally agree with you. I've wondered what would happen if one launched a supermarket where other than aisle decriptions, no indication of what the product could be. All the boxes will just a white background with the price written on it. The produce will only have the number but not the type...

    Rules for Customers

One I remembered that occured to me before the holidays: If for whatever reason you buy 100 cans of dog food/bottles of soft drink etc, please for the love of god ask a grocery staff member to check out the back to see if there are any boxes of the stuff. It makes me go alot faster because I...

    The Woolworths Thread

I'm under the impression the Cert II Retail for Woolies takes a couple of days to complete (According to the chart in my staff room). Or is it done over the course of the year? I was thinking of getting it as a vehicle to move up in the supermarket ladder after 3 years on being entry level...

    Rules for Customers

At our Woolies, it's if it's under $15, we'll give a refund without the reciept. Over $15, we give a special store card. I think the need to return with reciept for refund policy has weakened. I do remember it being "No reciept, no refund/exchange" end of story years ago.
